TV Mount Subcontractor Jobs — Katy, TX 77494

EVOTECH IT LLC subcontracts television mounting work across 77494, and this ZIP carries more of it than any other slice of our west-side territory. We are talking to experienced installers who already own their ladders, already carry insurance, and already know what to do when a homeowner says the wall is drywall and it turns out to be veneer stone over a hollow chase.

What a week of 77494 work actually looks like

A 77494 dispatch day is built on density rather than distance. Cinco Ranch, Seven Meadows, Grand Lakes, Kelliwood and the Tamarron edge sit close enough together that an installer can finish one call and be standing in the next family room fifteen minutes later.

The mix is heavily residential and heavily repeat. A typical run includes a display going up over a gas fireplace, an articulating arm in a primary bedroom, a flat bracket in an upstairs game room, and one take-down and reset where a homeowner has repainted or is moving a set to another floor.

Very little of it is bracket-only. Most stops include concealing HDMI and power inside the wall, adding a low-voltage brush plate at the display and a second one where the equipment lives, and dealing with the components that feed it. Budget your time for the cable path, not the bracket — the bracket is twenty minutes.

  • Over-fireplace mounts with recessed power and in-wall rated cable
  • Full-motion and articulating arms in bedrooms, kitchens and studies
  • Media and game rooms, frequently upstairs and frequently large panels
  • Soundbar brackets, center-channel shelves and component concealment
  • Removals, wall-repair hand-off, and re-installs after painting or a move
Volume, honestly: we do not promise anyone a fixed number of calls per week. Schedule density moves with demand, with your stated availability, and with how much of the territory you agree to cover.

Two-story great rooms, veneer stone, and where the blocking is not

West Katy builders gave a lot of these houses a two-story family room, so the wall above the firebox can run eighteen to twenty feet before it reaches the ceiling. That geometry drives three decisions on every one of those calls: how high the panel can sit before viewing angle becomes a complaint, how you reach it safely, and what you are genuinely anchoring into.

Stacked and cultured stone over a gas firebox is the common surround in this ZIP. Cultured stone is a thin veneer on a framed chase, which means the fastener has to reach framing rather than stopping in the facing material. Solid masonry is a different problem and takes sleeve or wedge anchors sized for the substrate. Plastic anchors and drywall toggles do not carry a panel over a hearth, ever.

The cavity above a firebox is useful for low-voltage cable and is not a place to improvise power. If a receptacle needs to exist behind the display it is either a UL-listed recessed in-wall power kit installed to its own instructions, or it is an electrician’s work order. There is no third option on our jobs.

Height work is the other half of it. On tall-wall calls we expect you to bring a platform or extension ladder rated for the load, to set it on something actually flat, and to have a second person for the larger panels rather than balancing an eighty-inch display against a ladder rail.

What we expect to already be in your vehicle

This is not a wish list. An installer who arrives at a 77494 address without these loses the appointment and the rest of the route behind it.

CategoryWhat you are expected to already own
DetectionA stud finder you trust through thick facing material, a strong magnet for fastener lines, and a borescope for anything you cannot read from outside the wall
DrillingHammer drill with masonry bits, impact driver, sleeve and wedge anchors in several sizes, structural toggles rated for real load
CableGlow rods, fish tape, pull line, in-wall rated HDMI in useful lengths, old-work low-voltage brackets, brush and grommet plates
LevelingA four-foot level and a self-leveling laser. A phone app is not a level, and the customer will notice before you do
AccessYour own ladders including a twelve-foot and a platform, plus a vehicle that can actually carry them
Site careDrop cloths, shoe covers, a vacuum, and spare wall plates so nothing is left open

Carry spare hardware. Half the bracket manufacturers ship a bag of bolts that does not fit the panel sitting in the box beside it, and the difference between a finished job and a second visit is usually a machine screw you already had.

The paperwork side, and what stays off your plate

The relationship is a 1099 subcontract, not employment. You invoice, you accept the windows that suit you, and you bring your own tools and vehicle. Three items come before a first dispatch: a W-9, a certificate of general liability insurance, and a completed background check.

Commercial auto coverage is expected for the driving this work involves. Your certificate should name EVOTECH IT LLC as certificate holder and it has to stay current — a lapsed policy stops dispatch the day it lapses, and no exception has ever been made for anyone.

Line voltage is not yours here. EVOTECH is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor and we keep that boundary hard: if a job needs a new receptacle, a circuit moved, or anything else on the power side, it goes to a licensed electrician and you are not asked to touch it. If a scope drifts toward surveillance or alarm equipment, Texas regulates that separately, and we will tell you what registration applies before you are ever sent to that kind of call.

Compensation is discussed at interview and depends on the scope you take on and the experience you bring. We do not publish rates on a web page, and you should be skeptical of any company that does.

How jobs reach you and how a Katy day is assembled

Work arrives by text and phone with the address, the panel size and weight, the mount type, and the wall type as the customer described it. Treat that last field as a rumor. Homeowners routinely report drywall and mean stone, or report brick and mean a veneer panel over studs.

Arrival windows are short precisely because the stops are close together. You confirm the day before, you confirm again when you are en route, and you text when you clear. If a call runs long, dispatch needs to hear it while there is still time to move the next appointment — not after the customer has already called us.

Two standing rules exist because they protect everybody. First: if the wall is not what the work order says, you stop and call before a bit touches it. Second: you never quote. If the customer wants a second display, a soundbar added, or cable pulled to another room, that goes through the office and comes back to you as approved scope. An installer who negotiates price on a doorstep is not one we keep.

Photographs before and after every mount are part of the job, and they are what settles a question months later in your favor.

Putting yourself forward for West Katy work

Call (832) 359-2425 or send the details through our contact page. Tell us six things and you will get a straight answer quickly.

  1. How long you have been mounting displays specifically — not general handyman years
  2. Whether you own your ladders, hammer drill and fish rods today
  3. Your insurance status and carrier, current or lapsed
  4. What you drive, and whether a twelve-foot ladder fits in it
  5. Which ZIP codes you will genuinely accept, and how far west you will go
  6. Your real availability — weekday daytime, evenings, weekends

After a conversation comes a working interview: one supervised job where we watch how you read the substrate, how you dress cable, and how you handle the customer. That job is scoped and paid on terms agreed beforehand.

We are equally interested in installers who are already busy and want overflow, and in installers who want a steady territory. Say which one you are — it changes how we route you.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need insurance in place before I start, or can I get it after the first job?
Before. Dispatch does not begin until a current general liability certificate naming EVOTECH IT LLC is on file, and if a policy lapses mid-season the work pauses that same day until it is reinstated. It is the one requirement we have never waived for anybody, regardless of how good the installer is.
Can I take 77494 only, or do I have to cover the whole west side?
You name the ZIP codes you will genuinely accept and we dispatch inside them. Installers who take a wider slice of west Katy and out toward Fulshear naturally see more offers, but nobody is pushed into a territory they did not agree to cover.
Who supplies the mounts, cable and in-wall power kits?
It varies by work order. Some customers buy their own bracket and we install what they have if it is suitable for the panel; on others the materials come through us. Your own consumables — anchors, bits, plates, pull line — are expected to be in the van already.
A customer wants a second TV added while I am on site. Can I just do it?
No. Call the office, we scope and price it, and it comes back to you as an approved addition to the work order. You are never put in the position of pricing something with a drill in your hand, and an installer who does it anyway is not dispatched again.
Are the tall two-story great-room mounts compulsory?
No, but tell us in advance. We track who is equipped and willing for height work so those calls route to people with the right ladder, the platform and a second set of hands. Declining them honestly is completely fine; accepting one you cannot safely do is not.
How does payment work for a subcontractor?
You invoice for completed work as a 1099 subcontractor. The rate structure is settled at interview and reflects the scope you take on and the experience behind you. We do not print figures here because the honest answer changes with the work.
