TV Hanging Technician Jobs in Katy, TX 77494
77494 is one of the densest residential ZIP codes in Texas, and a day here is decided as much by how you sequence four appointments as by how you set a bracket. EVOTECH IT LLC is adding hanging technicians who can hold a schedule across west Katy and still leave every wall looking like nobody was there.
Why this ZIP is a scheduling problem before it is a drilling problem
77494 is not a normal ZIP code. It runs from Kelliwood and Cinco Ranch out past Firethorne toward the Fulshear line, and crossing it corner to corner in afternoon traffic can eat more time than the mount itself. That single fact shapes this job more than any drill does.
Dispatch here is built around geography. Rather than scattering one technician across the whole west side, we cluster a day inside a few neighbouring subdivisions so drive time stops eating the schedule. What that asks of you is the ability to run several appointments in sequence and hold the window on each one. Not to sprint, but to recognise when a job is turning into a two-hour problem and tell us early instead of letting the next customer wait.
A few timing facts are worth knowing before you take a day. Katy ISD campus zones back up hard in the middle of the afternoon, so a two-mile hop between Seven Meadows and Grand Lakes is not a two-mile hop at three o’clock. The Grand Parkway and the Westpark Tollway are usually the quieter way around the district, and a technician who has worked those routes out finishes earlier than one who trusts the first suggestion on a phone.
The volume is the upside. This is among the busiest residential corridors in our territory, so somebody who closes cleanly tends to be offered steady work rather than the occasional orphan ticket.
What you actually open up in a Cinco Ranch two-storey
Most of what you will work on in this ZIP went up between the late nineties and the middle of the last decade: brick veneer over a wood frame, interior partitions on sixteen-inch centres, engineered floor trusses upstairs. The construction is consistent, which is good news, but the consistency hides three traps that come up over and over on this route.
The fireplace wall
Builders in these neighbourhoods favoured cast stone and stacked tile over cement board, with a recessed media box set at whatever height was fashionable the year the house was finished. That box is rarely where the family wants the screen now. Part of the role is explaining what it takes to bring the picture down to eye level, what stays visible afterwards, and how the surround behaves if a fixing lands on a grout line instead of a solid bed.
The game room over the garage
Upstairs bonus rooms sit on long-span trusses and the floor moves under a ladder. Set up on the flattest run you can find, keep the working height down, and never take the top two steps on carpet where the feet are already sinking.
Knee walls and dropped soffits
Second-storey knee walls give you a shallow cavity and bracing you cannot see from the room. Probe before you commit, and be willing to move a mount one stud rather than force the position you first marked.
Corporate churn puts two recurring tickets on this board
West Katy has constant relocation turnover, with families arriving on a company package, leasing for a year or two, then moving on. That churn produces two ticket types you will see repeatedly, and neither is only about hanging a screen.
The first is the move-in. A household in a rental or a freshly closed house wants three or four displays up in one visit, often before the furniture arrives. Planned properly these are the best days on the route, because it is one set-up, one dust sheet and one clean-up. Treated as four separate jobs in one house, they run long every time.
The second is the take-down. A tenant is leaving, the lease says the wall goes back as it was found, and we are removing hardware we may not have installed. Be straight about what a removal genuinely leaves behind. Our scope is a clean dismount, anchors pulled or cut flush and hardware handed over. It is not texture-matched repair and repainting unless the ticket says so in writing. Photograph the wall before you touch it and again when you are done. That habit has settled more disagreements on this route than any argument ever has.
Getting in, parking, and behaving like you have been there before
Almost everything in 77494 sits inside a managed community, so reaching the wall is a genuine part of the work. Gate codes expire, guard lists are not always current, and an address occasionally drops you at an amenity centre a mile from the house. Call from the vehicle rather than sitting at a call box burning the window.
- Parking. Many associations here do not want a work trailer standing on the street. Ask where to put it before you back in, and never block a neighbour’s drive to save yourself twenty feet of walking.
- Noise and hours. Hammer drilling at first light in a dense subdivision produces complaints that land on the homeowner, not on you. Save the loud work until the day is properly under way.
- Inside the house. Boot covers, a sheet under the wall, and every offcut leaves with you. People on these streets talk to each other, and the whole neighbourhood is effectively one referral list.
- Pets and children. Doors get propped open when panels are being carried. Ask who is home and whether anything can get out before you start moving.
The close-out we hold every technician to, however simple the ticket looked
A job is finished when somebody else could inspect it and find nothing to say. The standard does not flex because the appointment was booked as a quick single mount.
- The bracket is fixed into structure. Studs located and confirmed, lags seated, nothing carried on drywall anchors because the framing was two inches off where you wanted it.
- The screen reads level, and where the ceiling line disagrees you raised it with the customer before anything was tightened.
- Cable is dressed and secured, in-wall runs use in-wall rated cable, and nothing is left looped where the panel will pinch it.
- The system is powered up and tested with the customer beside you. Sources, sound bar, remote, and anything you unplugged put back the way you found it.
- Packaging, offcuts and dust leave in your vehicle.
- Close-out photographs go in the same day: wall, fixing, cable path and finished screen.
That last step is not paperwork for its own sake. It is the record that protects you when somebody calls three weeks later about a mark that was already on the wall.
What we verify before a first Katy dispatch
EVOTECH IT LLC has been running low-voltage work in this market since around 2004. We are licensed and insured, we hold a five-star rating, and the people we send to a customer’s door are expected to reflect both. Before a first assignment in west Katy we check a short list.
- General liability cover held in your own business name, with a certificate we can keep on file.
- A completed W-9.
- Background screening cleared.
- A vehicle that carries ladders, hardware and a large panel without damaging any of them.
- Your own hand and power tools, including a stud finder you genuinely trust.
What you are paid is agreed face to face and turns on how much scope you are willing to carry and what you have already proved you can do. We would rather have that conversation properly than publish a number that means one thing on a single bedroom mount and something else entirely on a four-display day.
To begin, ring (832) 359-2425 or introduce yourself on the contact form, telling us what you have hung, what lives in your truck, and which parts of west Katy you can reach comfortably.
