Installer & Subcontractor Openings

TV Installer Jobs in Spring Branch, Houston TX 77080

EVOTECH IT LLC takes applications from flat-panel installers and insured low-voltage subcontractors who want steady work inside 77080 – the Spring Branch streets between Bingle, Gessner and the north shoulder of the Katy Freeway. This page describes the work honestly so you can decide before you spend a phone call.

Who this Spring Branch route suits

The installer who lasts out here is not the fastest driller on the crew. It is the one who steps into a 1957 living room, reads the ceiling height and the brick, and knows inside a minute whether the bracket in the customer’s box belongs on that wall.

If you can work that out and say so politely before anything is unpacked, you will stay busy. Spring Branch mixes seventy-year-old single-story homes with brand-new three-story infill on the same block, so the same bracket rarely solves two houses in a row. We would rather hear “that fireplace is a bad idea and here is why” at nine in the morning than get a callback at six in the evening.

  • Experienced flat-panel installers who can close out a residential call alone, start to finish.
  • Insured subcontractors who can produce a current certificate of general liability on request.
  • Helpers with real trade hands – electrical, alarm, cable, or carpentry – who want to move into low voltage and can prove they learn on a second set of hands.

What does not survive a week here is treating the stud finder as optional, or leaving a homeowner’s furniture where the truck left it. Every one of these calls happens inside somebody’s occupied house, usually with a dog and at least one curious child watching you work.

What a dispatch day between Long Point and Campbell looks like

A normal weekday is three to five stops inside a tight radius. Because 77080 sits inside Beltway 8 and the grid is compact, the driving between calls is short, but the parking is not always simple. Streets off Long Point and Campbell are narrow with shallow driveways, and the older lots were never laid out for a work van and a homeowner’s two cars at the same time.

Mornings often start in the apartment stock along Hammerly, where arrival windows are tighter because the resident is heading to work. Afternoons drift toward the residential blocks and, a couple of times a week, into the small retail along Long Point – a restaurant wanting two screens behind the counter, or a shop that needs a panel hung out of reach.

You call ahead before every stop and photograph the wall before anything happens. If you open a wall and find something nobody expected, you stop and call the office rather than improvising your way into somebody’s plumbing.

Realistic expectation: an uncomplicated single mount is not an all-day affair, but a pull-down over a masonry chimney with a power relocation is. Dispatch is built around the second kind, so do not pad your times and do not race them either.

What is actually behind the wall on these streets

Spring Branch has been rebuilding itself in pieces since the 1950s, and the wall you meet depends entirely on which decade the room was finished in. This is the single biggest reason a new installer gets in trouble here.

Where you are standingWhat sits behind the finishWhat that changes
Original post-war ranch wallWood framing on rough sixteen-inch centres that can drift an inch either way, under a thin skim of textureTrust the bit, not the beep. Confirm both edges of the member before a lag goes anywhere near it.
Converted garage or 1970s room additionFraming tied to the slab at a different height, and sometimes no attic above the room at allYour concealment plan changes. With no attic, the run goes wall-to-wall or into surface raceway, and the customer hears that before you drill.
Gut-remodelled interiorNew board, proper blocking, occasionally a framed recess already built for a panelMeasure the recess twice. A sixty-five inch panel and a sixty-two inch opening is a wasted trip for everybody.
Three-storey townhome infillEngineered floor trusses, a rated party wall you do not touch, and a stairwell that quietly decides your maximum panel sizePlan the carry before you plan the mount. Check the panel will physically turn the landing.
Garden apartment off HammerlyMasonry or block on the shared wall, light framing on the interior partitionsAnchors rather than lags, and written permission from whoever holds the lease.

Because almost everything here is slab-on-grade with no crawlspace, concealed cable generally goes up into the attic and back down an interior cavity. Those low-pitch roofs make for a hot, tight attic with very little headroom at the eaves, so anyone who cannot work comfortably on their belly in an attic should say so up front rather than discover it in August.

The kit we expect to see in your vehicle

We do not hand out tool bags. An installer arrives able to work, and a subcontractor arrives able to work without borrowing anything from the homeowner.

  • A stud finder you actually trust, plus a small bit and a magnet for confirming what it told you.
  • Drill and impact driver with charged spares, masonry bits, and lag and toggle assortments deep enough that you are not driving to a hardware store mid-call.
  • Levels, including something long enough to level an eighty-inch panel honestly, and a laser if you own one.
  • Oscillating tool or a proper cut-in kit, glow rods or fish tape, and low-voltage mounting brackets for in-wall cable passes.
  • A six-foot and an eight-foot ladder, and a vehicle that carries the eight-footer without it living inside the cab.
  • Drop cloths and a vacuum. Drywall dust on a customer’s floor undoes good work faster than a crooked panel.

A pickup, cargo van or full-size SUV with a rack all work, provided a large panel and a ladder ride safely at the same time.

Licensing, insurance and the background question

EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor and has been working the Houston market for more than twenty years. Work performed on our dispatches is performed under that standing, which is exactly why the paperwork side is not negotiable.

  • Subcontractors carry their own general liability and provide a certificate before the first dispatch, along with a completed W-9.
  • Everyone holds a valid driver’s licence and a driving record good enough to be on the road to customer addresses all day.
  • Expect a background check. You are being sent into occupied homes, and some of the property managers in this area require it before their residents open a door.
  • If you already hold any low-voltage or alarm-side credential, bring it. It is not a prerequisite for every call, but it widens what we can send you on.

Nobody goes on a residential dispatch while their documentation is pending. That is not bureaucracy – it is the reason a customer lets a stranger drill into their living room wall.

How scheduling and dispatch run day to day

Work is booked by the office, not by you. You receive the stop with the address, the arrival window, what the customer bought, and whatever the estimator noted about the wall. You confirm you can make it, and from that point the customer’s day is your responsibility.

  1. You get the next day’s stops the evening before where the schedule allows, and same-morning additions when a job closes early.
  2. You call ahead so the customer can clear the wall and shut the dog somewhere else.
  3. If a mount or a bracket is wrong for the wall, the job pauses and the office is told. We reschedule rather than force hardware into a wall that will not hold it.
  4. You close out with the customer standing in front of the finished work, not from the driveway.
  5. Photographs go back to the office the same day.

Volume on this route is weekday-heavy with some evening commercial work when a business cannot close during trading hours. Tell us honestly what days and hours you can hold, because a dispatch you cancel at eight in the morning costs a customer their whole day.

How to apply for installer work in 77080

Call (832) 359-2425 or send your details through the contact page. A phone call is faster, and we would rather hear you describe a job you are proud of than read a formatted resume.

Have these ready when you call, because they are the first five things we ask:

  • How long you have been mounting, and the largest panel you have personally hung.
  • Which mount styles you are genuinely comfortable with – fixed, tilt, full-motion, ceiling, and pull-down over a firebox.
  • Whether you carry your own general liability, or whether you are applying as an installer rather than a sub.
  • What you drive and what ladders it carries.
  • Your real availability and how far you are willing to drive on either side of 77080.

Compensation is worked out at the interview and follows the scope you can take on and the experience behind it. We do not publish a number on a web page and then renegotiate it in the truck.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to speak Spanish to work the Long Point corridor?

It is not a requirement, and plenty of our work in 77080 is handled in English. It is genuinely useful though – a large share of households and small businesses along Long Point and Hammerly are more comfortable in Spanish. If you are bilingual, say so when you apply; it widens the stops we can send you.

These houses are seventy years old. What am I drilling into?

Mostly conventional wood framing, but with the irregularity you expect from hand-framed post-war construction – spacing that wanders, the occasional doubled member where a wall was reworked, and in a few of the oldest houses a harder plaster finish rather than modern board. Exterior walls are brick veneer over framing. The practical rule is that the stud finder starts the search and a small pilot hole finishes it.

Do you pair installers up, or is it a one-person truck?

Most residential stops here are single-installer calls. We send two people when the panel is very large, when a mount has to go high over masonry, or when a commercial job has a fixed closing time. If you are applying alongside someone you already work with, tell us.

I do good work but I drive an SUV, not a van. Is that a problem?

No, as long as a large panel and an eight-foot ladder both travel safely and legally at the same time. A roof rack or a bed rack solves it on most vehicles. What matters is that it is reliable enough that a missed stop never becomes a customer’s problem.

Can I take evening and weekend work only?

Be honest with us and we will be honest back. Residential volume in Spring Branch is concentrated on weekdays, so an evenings-and-weekends-only installer will see fewer dispatches than someone with daytime availability. There is some after-hours commercial work. Tell us your real availability and we will say plainly whether there is enough of it to be worth your time.

Want a spot on the Spring Branch route?

Tell us what you have installed, what you drive, and when you can work. If it fits, we will get you on a dispatch.
