Hiring – Bear Creek & Copperfield

TV Installer Jobs in Houston, TX 77084

Of everywhere we dispatch, 77084 sits closest to where our day starts. The subdivisions around Bear Creek, Copperfield and the Highway 6 corridor are a short run from our Katy base, which makes this one of the easier routes to fill a week on – if you can handle tall rooms, hot attics and covered patios.

Closest route to our Katy baseTwo-storey suburban homesCovered patio installsInsured subcontractors welcomeApply by phone

Read this first: is this work a fit for you?

Before the phone call, check yourself honestly against the list below. Everything on it comes up in a normal month on this route, and none of it is a trick question.

  • You can work at height off a ladder, comfortably, while holding something heavy and awkward.
  • You can spend twenty minutes in a Gulf Coast attic in summer without making a mistake on the way back down.
  • You can look at a two-storey family room and work out where the panel belongs for people sitting down, not for the ceiling.
  • You can be in somebody’s home at eight in the morning, on the day and at the time you said.
  • You can tell a customer that what they are asking for is a bad idea, and keep them happy anyway.

Say yes to all five and there is almost certainly work here for you, whether you come as an installer or as an insured subcontractor with your own truck.

Bear Creek, Copperfield and the Highway 6 corridor

This is planned suburbia, mostly built out from the seventies through the nineties in large master-planned tracts either side of Highway 6 and Clay Road, with Cypress-Fairbanks schools and active community associations running most of it.

The practical consequences for an installer are consistent from street to street, which is the appeal of the route. You mostly meet two-storey homes with a family room open to the second floor, a corner or centre brick fireplace, attached garages that are often part workshop and part game room, and attics reached by a pull-down stair. Once you have solved the pattern, you have solved a lot of the ZIP.

A share of the housing stock around the Bear Creek area has been through repair and renovation after flooding in past years. Practically, that means you will occasionally find newer board and re-run electrical in an otherwise older house, and equipment that a homeowner deliberately wants mounted higher than usual. Ask before you assume the wall matches the age of the house.

Why installers like this route: the drive from our Katy side of the map is short, the subdivisions are close together, and there is far less dead time between stops than a downtown or inner-loop day.

Two-storey rooms, vaulted ceilings and the high mount problem

The signature job here is a panel over a fireplace in a room with a ceiling two storeys up. It looks impressive in a photograph and it is the single most common source of an unhappy customer six months later, because the viewing angle is wrong.

SituationThe trapWhat a good installer does
Tall firebox wall, seating close to itMounting where the wall looks balanced instead of where eyes actually sitHave the customer sit down. Set the height from that chair, then discuss the compromise out loud.
Full masonry chimney breastAssuming a stud behind brick, or anchoring into a mortar joint that cannot carry the loadMasonry anchors rated for the panel and the mount extension, placed into sound material and verified.
Pull-down mount requestedFitting hardware whose rated capacity is under the actual panel weightCheck the specification against the panel before anything is opened, and say no when it does not add up.
Ladder work above a hearthSetting feet on a raised hearth or an uneven slate lipLevel the base properly or use a different approach. A fall in a customer’s living room ends more than the job.
Power and signal at heightRunning an extension lead up the wall behind the panelUse a proper in-wall power solution or bring the office in. Never improvise a power route.

Cable concealment here usually goes through the attic and down an interior wall, which is exactly why attic tolerance is on the list further up this page. Pull-down stairs in these homes are often in the garage, so plan how you get between the attic access and the room you are working in without tracking insulation through the house.

Covered patios, outdoor panels and Gulf Coast weather

Outdoor television work is a real and growing part of this route, because so many of these homes have a covered patio or an outdoor kitchen off the back of the house. It is also the part where corner-cutting shows up fastest.

  • An indoor panel under a patio roof is not an outdoor installation, and an installer should say so plainly when a customer proposes it.
  • Humidity, wind-driven rain and insects all get into an enclosure that was sealed carelessly. Weather-rated boxes and proper drip loops are not optional here.
  • Exterior wall penetrations through brick must be sealed the same day, not on a return visit.
  • Mount hardware outdoors takes weather too. Corrosion-resistant fasteners matter more than a few cents of cost.
  • Where a community association governs the rear elevation, the customer should confirm before hardware goes on an exterior wall.

If you have done outdoor and patio work before, mention it specifically when you apply. It is a smaller pool of capable installers than you would guess.

What we check before your first dispatch

EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor and has been serving Katy, Houston, Sugar Land, Richmond, Fulshear, Cypress and the surrounding area for more than twenty years. Before anyone is sent to a customer’s door, the following is settled.

  • Insurance. Subcontractors present a current general liability certificate. This is verified, not simply described.
  • Tax paperwork. A completed W-9 for subcontracted work, before the first dispatch rather than after it.
  • Background check. Expect one. The work is inside family homes with children and pets in them.
  • Driving. A valid licence and a vehicle that carries a large panel and an eight-foot ladder safely.
  • A working conversation about limits. We want to hear what you do not do yet, so we never send you into it blind.

Getting onto the dispatch list

Call (832) 359-2425, or send your background through the contact page and we will ring you back. Keep it short and concrete – years of experience, the heaviest panel you have hung alone, whether you are comfortable on masonry and at height, what you drive, and the days you can commit to.

How the schedule works once you are on it: stops are assigned by the office with an arrival window, you call ahead before each one, you photograph before and after, and you close out standing in front of the finished work with the customer. If the hardware on site is wrong for the wall, you stop and call rather than force it. That single rule has protected more of our customers’ homes than any other.

Pay is settled in person, based on scope and experience. Nobody here posts a figure on the internet and then walks it back in the driveway, and we will not ask you to work before that conversation has happened.

Frequently asked questions

How far is 77084 from where your jobs are dispatched?

Close. Our service area is centred on Katy, and the Bear Creek and Copperfield subdivisions are a short run from that side of the map. For an installer, that mostly translates into less unpaid windscreen time at the start and end of the day than you would spend on an inner-city route.

How do you handle attic runs in the middle of a Texas summer?

Sensibly. Attic work is scheduled as early in the day as the customer’s window permits, you carry water, and you plan the run before you go up so you are not hunting for a top plate in peak heat. If you get up there and it is not safe or not workable, you come down and we solve it another way. No cable run is worth a heat injury in somebody’s loft.

Do I need experience with pull-down fireplace mounts specifically?

It helps, and it comes up on this route more than most. If you have not fitted one, the important thing is that you know how to read a load rating and recognise when a requested mount cannot carry the panel in front of you. The mechanism is straightforward to learn alongside someone; the judgement about weight and extension is the part we actually screen for.

Some of these houses were repaired after flooding. Does that affect the work?

Occasionally, yes. You may find newer drywall and rerouted electrical in a house that is otherwise decades old, and some homeowners deliberately want equipment mounted higher than they once did. The practical lesson is not to assume a wall’s construction from the age of the house – check what is actually there before you commit to a fixing point.

Can I bring my own helper on these jobs?

Tell us at the interview and we will work it out. A second pair of hands is genuinely useful on eighty-inch panels and high fireplace mounts. Anyone entering a customer’s home is subject to the same expectations as you, so a helper is not a way around the documentation side of this.
