What a 77007 install ticket actually looks like

EVOTECH IT LLC books television mounting and low-voltage work throughout this inner-Loop ZIP and brings on independent installers to run those tickets. This page is written for the installer, not the customer.

An assignment reaches you as a scheduled window with an address, the customer’s screen size and model, the wall type if the homeowner knew it, and whether power relocation or a soundbar feed was requested. You confirm the window, arrive in your own vehicle with your own hand tools, walk the room with the customer, agree the exact mounting height before a single hole is drilled, and finish with a working picture and dressed cable.

  • Verify the stud layout or the concrete substrate before committing to a location.
  • Set the bracket level and fastened into real structure, never into drywall anchors alone.
  • Conceal HDMI and low-voltage runs in-wall where the build allows, or in paintable raceway where it does not.
  • Add or relocate a recessed receptacle behind the panel when the scope calls for it.
  • Test every source the customer owns before you pack out: streaming box, console, cable box, soundbar.
  • Photograph the finished wall and the cable path for the job record.

Most residential tickets here are one installer and one television. Anything over roughly seventy-five inches, or any full-motion bracket on a three-storey stairwell wall, is scheduled as a two-person job and we pair you with a second hand.

The 77007 wall problem: party walls, post-tension slabs and no attic

This is the densest new-construction pocket inside the Loop, and the housing stock tells you what the day will be. Three-storey attached townhomes dominate the blocks off Washington Avenue, and they carry a specific set of problems worth anticipating before the ladder comes off the truck.

Interior walls in attached townhomes

Party walls between attached units are frequently fire-rated assemblies, which can mean doubled drywall, a shaft liner, or steel studs depending on the builder’s spec. A stud sensor that behaves perfectly in a 1950s ranch will lie to you through two layers of five-eighths board. Confirm with a fine pilot bit and keep a patch kit in your pocket.

The living area is usually on the second floor and the primary bedroom on the third, so the media wall often sits above a garage or a tuck-under entry with no attic over it at all. That removes the easy top-down fish. Plan for a route up from the base plate, a low-voltage bracket behind the credenza, and flex conduit if the customer wants room to add gear later.

Mid-rise, loft and condo units

Work along the corridor and near the Sawyer Yards buildings brings post-tension slabs, concrete columns and exposed masonry. You do not core or drill into a post-tension slab under any circumstances. On concrete and brick you are working with a rotary hammer and sleeve anchors, and you should own that tool rather than borrow it. Many buildings also require a certificate of insurance on file with management before the freight elevator is released, which we file on your behalf but cannot do at short notice.

Access and parking

Alley-loaded garages, shared driveways and restricted curb space are normal here. Tickets are built with extra load-in time because of it. A trailer often cannot be staged on these blocks, so an enclosed van or a covered truck bed is the realistic vehicle for this part of town.

Skills and experience we actually verify

We are not screening for a resume full of brand names. We are screening for somebody who can be trusted alone in a stranger’s living room and who leaves the wall looking as though nothing happened to it.

AreaWhat you should be able to demonstrate
Mounting hardwareCorrect lag length and pilot size in wood framing, sleeve or wedge anchors in concrete and block, and sound toggle selection when a stud is not where the customer wants the screen.
Fishing and concealmentFluent with glow rods, fish tape and magnets, and willing to say a wall cannot be fished rather than forcing it.
Low-voltage practiceUnderstands separation from line voltage, in-wall rated cable, and why a raw patch cable stapled inside a wall is not acceptable work.
Finish repairCan patch and texture a mistake so the customer never needs a drywall crew behind you.
Customer handlingExplains options in plain language, gets sign-off on height and placement before drilling, and does not sell from the floor.

Backgrounds in cabling, home theatre, satellite, alarm or structured wiring all transfer directly. If you came up through furniture delivery or general handyman work and you have genuinely mounted a lot of televisions, say so and we will arrange a working assessment instead of screening you out on paper.

What you bring and what we supply

Independent installers carry their own hand tools and transportation. Brackets, plates, in-wall rated cable, recessed boxes and raceway are pulled by us for the ticket, so the customer receives one itemised quote and nobody is buying parts out of pocket.

You provide

  • A reliable enclosed vehicle with room for a six-foot and an eight-foot ladder.
  • Cordless drill and impact driver with a charged spare battery.
  • Rotary hammer and masonry bits for the concrete and brick units.
  • Deep-scan stud finder, torpedo and long levels, and a laser level if you own one.
  • Glow rods, fish tape, drywall saw, and a patch and texture kit.
  • Drop cloths, a shop vacuum and clean shoe covers.
  • A phone capable of photographing and uploading job documentation the same day.

We provide

  • The scheduled customer and the agreed scope, so you are never prospecting.
  • Mounts, plates, cable, boxes and raceway pulled for the assignment.
  • The certificate of insurance filing for buildings that require one before access.
  • A dispatcher you can call from the wall the moment scope changes.

How scheduling and dispatch work

Work is released as scheduled appointment windows, not as leads you have to close. By the time a ticket reaches you the scope is agreed and the estimate is itemised; your job is to execute it cleanly.

You tell us the days and hours you are genuinely available and we route inside that. Installers who accept the windows they committed to, arrive inside them and close tickets with complete photo documentation get first refusal on the next batch. Routing preference here is earned through reliability rather than seniority.

Scope changes are routine. If a customer adds a second screen, wants a soundbar fed, or the wall turns out to be unfishable, you call dispatch from the room and we re-quote it with the customer directly. Installers do not negotiate price on the floor and do not collect payment.

Compensation: pay is discussed during the interview. It depends on scope, complexity, whether the ticket is single or two-person, and the experience you demonstrate. We do not publish rate tables and we will not quote a figure before we have spoken.

Applying for 77007 work

EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor that has worked the Houston market for more than twenty years, with a 5.0-star customer rating. Our service area runs Katy, Houston, Sugar Land, Richmond, Fulshear, Cypress and the surrounding Texas communities, so an installer who starts on inner-Loop townhome tickets can be routed far wider once we know the quality of the work.

To apply, call (832) 359-2425 and say you are calling about installer work, or send your details through our contact page. Tell us which ZIP codes you can realistically cover, the vehicle you drive, your ladder situation, whether you carry your own general liability policy, and roughly how many televisions you have mounted. A short phone screen comes first, then a working assessment on a live ticket alongside one of our people.

Frequently asked questions

Is this employment or subcontract work?
These are independent subcontractor assignments. You invoice for completed tickets, you set the availability we route inside, and you are responsible for your own tools, vehicle and taxes. If that structure is not what you are looking for, say so on the first call so neither of us wastes a trip.
Do I need my own general liability insurance?
Yes for subcontract work, and we verify that it is current. Several mid-rise and condo buildings in this ZIP will not release elevator or loading-dock access without a certificate on file naming the property. We handle that filing with building management, but the underlying policy has to be yours.
What happens if I damage a wall or a customer’s television?
You call dispatch immediately and you do not attempt to hide it. Damage that is reported honestly and straight away is handled through the normal channels and has never by itself ended a working relationship here. Damage the customer discovers afterwards is a different matter.
Can I bring my own helper on the oversized screens?
Yes on two-person tickets, provided we have met them and they are covered under the same arrangement. Unvetted third parties do not enter customer homes on our schedule, and that rule has no exceptions.
How soon could I be running tickets?
After the phone screen and document check, the working assessment is normally the next scheduling opportunity in your area. Volume through this corridor moves with move-in season, so it depends on what is booked when you clear.
