Now hiring installers – Houston 77019

TV Installer Jobs in Houston 77019 (River Oaks and Montrose)

Subcontract display, camera and cabling work inside the 77019 corridor, where century-old estate homes and concrete high-rises sit within a mile of each other. EVOTECH IT LLC is adding insured installers to its call list.

Who We Need in 77019 Right Now

EVOTECH IT LLC keeps a short list of display installers we call first when work lands just west of downtown. The 77019 ZIP covers River Oaks, the eastern edge of Montrose and the Allen Parkway corridor, and the tickets there split almost evenly between pre-war estate homes and glass-and-concrete residential towers. We want installers who are steady in both.

This is subcontract field work. You own the ticket from the front door to the sign-off: confirm what the client actually wants, verify the wall will hold it, mount it dead level, route the cable so nothing dangles, set the inputs, hand over the remotes and leave the room cleaner than you found it.

  • Real mounting hours – fixed, tilt, full-motion and recessed-box installs on drywall over wood stud, metal stud, brick, plaster-and-lath and concrete.
  • Your own transportation and the discipline to hit a scheduled arrival window in inner-loop traffic.
  • Presentation. You will be standing in rooms worth protecting. Shoe covers, drop cloths, no music, no phone calls in front of the client.
  • Documentation habits. Before photos, after photos, and a written note of whatever you found behind the wall.

Compensation is discussed during the interview. It depends on the scope you are cleared for, whether you run solo or bring a helper, and how much of your own equipment you supply. We will not publish a number on a web page, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does.

What a 77019 Workday Actually Looks Like

Two addresses a mile apart in this ZIP can demand completely different approaches. Reading which one you are walking into is most of the craft.

The River Oaks side

Much of the housing stock here predates residential air conditioning. Interior partitions are frequently plaster over wood lath, with dense old framing behind them that a dull bit will skate off. Exterior walls can be solid masonry several wythes deep. Electronic stud finders lie on plaster, so you will be relying on careful test holes, a rare-earth magnet to chase nail lines, and a hammer drill you actually brought with you.

Homes on these blocks often already have an equipment closet or a rack left behind by a previous system. Being able to identify what is already terminated, label it honestly and re-use what is good is worth more to us than raw speed.

The tower side

Along Allen Parkway and toward Kirby you are inside concrete-frame buildings. Post-tension slabs and concrete shear walls mean you do not drill wherever you please – you mount to the furred-out partitions, choose anchors rated for the substrate in front of you, and you never cut into anything structural. With no stud cavity to fish, cable is often surface-run in paintable raceway, and the quality of that raceway line is the whole install.

Assume no on-site parking. Assume a concierge check-in. Assume somebody will tell you which elevator you may use and for how long.

Buildings With Rules, and How Not To Get Turned Away

A tech who gets refused in the lobby burns the entire slot for everybody. In this part of Houston, access is a skill in its own right.

  • Certificates of insurance. Many towers require a COI naming the building and its management company before you go upstairs. We handle that paperwork, but you must report the building name the moment you are dispatched, not on the morning of the visit.
  • Freight elevator windows. Contractor elevators are usually reserved in blocks and are often unavailable on weekends. A sixty-five inch panel does not ride a passenger car.
  • Protection requirements. Some properties demand floor covering in common corridors and a moving blanket in the lift before they will let a panel through.
  • Deed restrictions and association notice. On the single-family blocks, anything exterior – a patio display, a dish relocation, a camera on a facade – can touch property-owner rules. Never promise a client an exterior change standing in their driveway.

Rule of thumb: if a building employee tells you something that contradicts the work order, stop and call dispatch. Nobody is ever penalised here for pausing a job over an access dispute.

The Kit You Are Expected To Carry

We specify and supply mounts, plates and job-specific hardware. Your vehicle should already carry the rest of it.

CategoryExpected on every visit
DrillingHammer drill, masonry bits, impact driver, self-feed and auger bits, a stud finder plus a magnet you trust more than the stud finder
LayoutLaser level, torpedo level, tape, pencil, and painter tape for dry-fit marking on finished walls
CableFish sticks, glow rods, low-voltage old-work brackets, wall plates, hook-and-loop ties, quality HDMI in several lengths
AccessA six-foot fibreglass step, and something taller for the double-height great rooms this ZIP is full of
ProtectionDrop cloths, shoe covers, microfibre, and a shop vac that does not spit dust back into the room
TestNon-contact voltage tester, cable tester, and a phone or tablet for the sign-off photographs

Articulating arms rated above the panel weight, in-wall power kits, soundbar brackets and fire-rated cable are specified by us per job, so the finished work matches both code and the manufacturer rating rather than whatever happened to be on the shelf.

Insurance, Licensing and the Low-Voltage Line

EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor with more than twenty years of Texas field work behind it and a 5.0-star rating that every ticket either protects or damages. Subcontractors carry their own general liability coverage and keep it active; we ask for the certificate before your first dispatch and again when it renews.

Know exactly where the trade line sits. Mounting a display, pulling structured cable, terminating keystones, setting cameras and dressing a rack are low-voltage tasks. Adding a new 120-volt receptacle behind a panel is not – that is licensed electrical work and it goes to an electrician every single time. Techs who quietly splice into a nearby circuit to hide a power cord do not stay on our list.

The same instinct applies to anything you are unsure of: a partition that flexes, a mount rated below the panel weight, a client asking you to drill through a fire-rated corridor wall. Decline it in the field and let us resolve it properly. That is the answer we want, not a heroic improvisation.

How To Get On The Call List

Applying takes one phone call. Ring (832) 359-2425 or send your details through our contact page and say you are applying for installer work in 77019. Be ready to tell us:

  1. How long you have been mounting displays, and which wall types you have genuinely worked on.
  2. Whether you run solo or have a regular second pair of hands.
  3. The days and hours you can realistically cover, including whether high-rise morning elevator windows are workable for you.
  4. Whether you also handle cameras, access control, structured cabling or rack work – crossover skills mean more tickets.
  5. Your insurance status, and whether you have supplied a COI to a building before.

Photographs of finished work tell us more than a resume does. Send a clean raceway run or a large panel on masonry and the conversation gets short.

Our dispatch area reaches from Katy and Fulshear through Houston, Sugar Land, Richmond and Cypress, so installers willing to travel beyond one ZIP stay busier. If you already work the inner loop, 77019 is a sensible place to start.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own general liability insurance to subcontract with EVOTECH?
Yes. Subcontractors carry and maintain their own general liability coverage, and we verify the certificate before your first dispatch. Several buildings in 77019 will also require a certificate naming the property and its management company before they allow a contractor upstairs, so keeping the policy current is not just paperwork here – it decides whether you get through the lobby.
How much longer does a high-rise install take than a house?
Plan for the building, not just the mount. Concierge check-in, a reserved freight elevator, corridor protection and a longer walk from the loading area routinely add time before you touch a wall. The mount itself may be simple; the logistics rarely are. We build that into the schedule, and we would rather you tell us your honest per-job time than squeeze a tower visit into a house-sized window.
What do I do if a plaster wall will not take the mount I was sent with?
Stop and call dispatch. Plaster-and-lath and solid masonry both change the anchor answer, and the correct fix is the right hardware or a different mounting position, never more screws in the wrong substrate. We would far rather send the correct anchor kit on a second visit than pay for a repaired wall and a replaced panel.
Can I apply if I only do TV mounting and nothing else?
Yes. Display work alone is a legitimate specialism and plenty of our tickets are exactly that. Installers who also run cable or set cameras simply see more volume because those jobs pair naturally with a display visit, so mention any crossover skills when you call.
Is this employment or subcontract work?
It is subcontract work. You operate your own setup, carry your own insurance, supply your own tools and transportation, and take tickets that fit your availability. The specifics of scope, scheduling and compensation are worked out in conversation rather than advertised.
