TV Mounting Installer Jobs in Houston 77055 (Spring Branch)
EVOTECH IT LLC is adding experienced television and display installers to the Spring Branch route. This is hands-on low-voltage field work in real homes — not a sales role and not a warehouse job.
What a 77055 mounting day actually looks like
A typical 77055 route runs between Spring Branch East, the Long Point corridor, the streets off Bingle and Campbell, and the newer townhome blocks that keep replacing post-war ranch houses on either side of Hempstead Road. Most days are three to five stops inside a tight radius, which means far less windshield time than almost any other corner of west Houston.
The first thing a tech does on arrival is not drill anything. It is a walk of the room with the homeowner: where the display goes, how high, what is likely behind that wall, where power and signal will come from, and what the finished wall is supposed to look like when you leave. Ten honest minutes there prevents the two problems that generate nearly every complaint in this trade — a screen mounted too high, and cords the customer never realised would still be visible.
After the walk, the sequence is predictable and physical:
- Locate framing, mark it, then verify with a second method before committing a hole.
- Level the bracket, confirm lag placement, and torque into solid framing rather than into hope.
- Route power and signal in-wall where the wall type and code allow, or fit a paintable raceway where they do not.
- Hang the display, then check tilt and level from the seat the family actually uses.
- Test every input, dress the cable bundle behind the panel, vacuum, and walk the customer through what changed.
Anything 75 inches and up is a two-person lift by default, and Spring Branch now has plenty of those — the rebuilt houses have far wider great rooms than the originals ever did.
The construction you will be drilling into
77055 is one of the most mixed construction ZIP codes in the city, and that mix is exactly why it is a good place to get properly good at this trade. On one block sit 1950s and 1960s single-storey ranch homes: wood studs on a slab, thin original drywall or a plaster skim, sixteen-inch spacing that is not always where the stud finder insists it is, and the occasional cast-iron vent or supply line hiding behind a wall that has been remodelled twice.
Turn the corner and you are inside a three-storey townhome finished within the last decade — engineered framing, wider bays, rated separation walls between units that nobody cuts into, and a second-floor media wall that was blocked and pre-wired by the builder if you are lucky and completely bare if you are not.
Three wall problems you will meet constantly here
- Masonry chimney breasts. Older Spring Branch homes love a full brick fireplace wall. Anchoring into brick face versus mortar joint is a decision, not a habit, and heat above a working firebox is a conversation to have before the bracket goes up.
- Shared townhome walls. A party wall is an assembly, not just drywall. You fasten to what you are permitted to fasten to, and you never breach a rated assembly to hide a cable.
- Remodel layers. Much of the older stock has been renovated at least once: furring strips, added insulation, a second sheet of drywall laid over the first. Every one of those changes fastener length, and every one of them gets measured rather than guessed.
Tools, truck stock and vehicle expectations
EVOTECH is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor working west Houston since roughly 2004. We set the standards, specify the hardware, and bring you the job. You arrive equipped to finish a stop without borrowing anything from the customer’s garage.
| Category | What we expect you to carry |
|---|---|
| Vehicle | Reliable, insured vehicle able to carry a six-foot ladder and an 85-inch display box without damaging either. |
| Detection | A stud finder you genuinely trust, a second verification method, and a voltage detector you use every single time before a bit touches drywall. |
| Drilling | Cordless drill and impact driver with charged spares, masonry bits, nut drivers, and a sorted set of lag and toggle hardware. |
| Levelling | Torpedo and four-foot levels, a laser for long walls, a tape, and a pencil that is not the one behind your ear. |
| Cabling | Fish tape or glow rods, low-voltage mounting brackets, in-wall rated cable, raceway and something that cuts it square. |
| Finish | Drop cloths, shoe covers, a vacuum, basic wall-repair supplies, and the habit of leaving a room cleaner than you found it. |
The difference between a finished install and a callback
Almost anybody can put a bracket on a wall. The reason this counts as a skilled trade is everything arranged around the bracket.
Screen height is the most common complaint in residential display work, and correcting it costs nothing: ask where people sit, then set the centre of the panel near seated eye level instead of defaulting to whatever the mantel suggests. When a customer insists on a height you believe is wrong, say so once — clearly, politely, without a lecture — then mount where they asked and note it on the ticket.
Cable discipline is the second. A floating screen with a black cord dangling below it reads as unfinished to the person paying the invoice. Either the cable travels inside the wall through properly rated pathways to a recessed receptacle behind the panel, or it travels in a raceway the customer has agreed to, cut square and ready for paint.
The third is restraint. When a wall will not safely take the load — corner framing, unidentified structure, a partition somebody built themselves — you stop, explain what you found, and offer an alternative rather than forcing an anchor. Rescheduling a job is always cheaper than replacing a television.
Insurance, licensing and the vetting that happens first
Before anyone takes a ticket in 77055 we verify a short, non-negotiable list. None of it is unusual for someone already working legitimately in the trades.
- Proof of general liability coverage in your own name if you engage as a subcontractor.
- A valid driver licence and current vehicle insurance, because you will be driving to private residences.
- Authorisation to work in the United States, with documentation matching the engagement type.
- A background check appropriate to entering occupied family homes.
- Any low-voltage licensing or registration your scope requires under Texas rules — we will walk you through it if you are close but not quite there.
Compensation is deliberately not published on this page, and you should be sceptical of any recruiter who does publish it. What a stop is worth depends on scope, wall type, whether in-wall cabling is involved, access difficulty, and how much experience you bring with you. We discuss it directly during the interview so the figure you hear applies to the work you will actually perform.
How dispatch works and how to get on the list
Scheduling is straightforward. Work is offered as booked appointments with an arrival window, routed so your stops sit close together rather than scattered across the county. Spring Branch is well placed for that: inside the Beltway, minutes from I-10, and sharing a boundary with the Galleria-area ZIP codes, so a light day in 77055 can usually be topped up from next door.
You confirm availability, we assign tickets, you close each one with photographs and a short completion note. Referrals and repeat customers tend to come back asking for the tech who did the first job, which is how consistency turns into volume.
To apply, call (832) 359-2425 or send your details through the contact page.
