TV Mounting Installer Jobs in Houston 77007 — Rice Military & Washington Avenue
EVOTECH IT LLC brings on installers and subcontractors for TV mounting work across Houston’s 77007 — Rice Military, Memorial Heights, the Washington Avenue corridor and the blocks around Sawyer Yards. This page is written for the person holding the drill, not the homeowner buying the job: what the work involves, the buildings you will be standing in, the kit you need, how dispatch runs, and how to get in touch about it.
What a 77007 work order actually asks you to do
Most of what lands on this route is a flat panel going onto a wall inside a three-story townhome, and the part that takes real skill is everything that happens before the bracket ever touches drywall.
You arrive, confirm which wall the customer wants, and then prove what is behind it. Stud finders get confused by party walls, by steel framing and by anything with a layer of sound board in it, so you verify with a small pilot, a rare-earth magnet or a bore scope before committing a lag bolt. After that the job is a sequence: transfer the bracket pattern, drill on centre, drive into solid framing, set the panel level against the ceiling line rather than against your eye, then make the cabling disappear.
Work orders in this ZIP regularly include more than a straight mount:
- Soundbars aligned under an existing panel, including the brackets that hang off the television itself rather than the wall.
- Full-motion arms above a gas fireplace, where heat clearance and arm reach both get checked before the first hole is drilled.
- Recessed power relocation paired with a concealed HDMI run, so nothing at all shows below the screen.
- Re-mounts, where a panel was hung on drywall anchors by somebody else and has begun to pull away from the wall.
- Dismount-and-reinstall jobs for tenants moving between the townhome clusters off Washington Avenue.
You are expected to leave the room cleaner than you found it, show the customer the tilt range and confirm the picture is live before you pack up, and photograph the finished wall for the job file.
Three-story townhomes, party walls and the 77007 access problem
77007 is unusually vertical for Houston. Large parts of Rice Military, Memorial Heights and the streets feeding Washington Avenue were rebuilt over the last two decades as narrow three-story townhomes packed tightly onto subdivided lots. That single fact shapes this route more than anything else.
| What you run into | Why it matters to the installer |
|---|---|
| Stairs, and a lot of them | The main living area usually sits on the second floor and the media room on the third. A 75-inch panel has to come up two flights through a stairwell with a tight turn. You need straps, a plan, and the judgement to call something a two-person carry. |
| Shared party walls | Attached units share an assembly that may be double-framed, insulated, or built with steel studs. It is not a wall you open on a hunch, and it is frequently not the wall the television should be on. Explaining that politely is part of the trade. |
| Alleys and shared drives | Many of these homes are served by a rear drive barely wide enough for a work truck, and kerb space on the busier corridors evaporates after five o’clock. You plan the approach before arriving, not while blocking a lane. |
| Tall great-room walls | Two-storey living rooms put the sight line high and the mounting height higher. Ladder work above furniture is routine here. |
Newer construction carries one real advantage: a great many of these units were built with a conduit sleeve or a pre-run from the television wall down to an equipment niche. Finding and using an existing chase beats cutting a fresh one every time, and knowing to look first is the difference between a two-hour visit and a four-hour visit.
Managed townhome clusters are common in this ZIP as well. Interior mounting is almost never an association matter, but anything touching an exterior wall, a balcony or a shared corridor can be, and you are expected to flag it rather than drill and hope.
How a dispatch day runs between Sawyer Yards and Memorial Heights
A normal day is a handful of stops inside a tight geographic box, not a marathon across the metro. Jobs get clustered so you are not crossing I-10 four times before lunch.
Work arrives in advance with the address, the panel size and model, the wall type if the customer knew it, and whatever the booking call turned up. Before rolling you confirm you are carrying the right mount class and enough fasteners for masonry, wood and metal stud, because the wall is not always what the customer believed it was.
On site the order is predictable: introduce yourself, walk the wall, agree the height while the customer is sitting on their own sofa, protect the floor, then work. If the scope moves — an extra run, a second screen, a bracket the customer bought that is not rated for the television they own — you call the office. Nobody quotes on the doorstep, and nobody invents a number to keep a customer happy.
Evening and weekend slots exist on this route because a large share of 77007 residents work downtown or out in the Energy Corridor and cannot meet anybody at ten in the morning. Availability outside business hours is not a requirement, but it is genuinely useful, and we ask about it early.
The kit you are expected to bring to the door
Subcontractors supply their own hand tools and their own transport. Nobody is handed a starter kit and pointed at a customer’s living room.
| Category | What we expect to see |
|---|---|
| Layout | Torpedo level plus a longer level, a laser if you have one, tape, a stud finder you actually trust, pencil and low-tack tape |
| Drilling and driving | Cordless drill and impact driver with charged spares, masonry bits, plus long flex bits for fishing behind finished surfaces |
| Fastening | Structural screws and lag bolts in several lengths, toggles genuinely rated for the load, sleeve anchors for brick and block |
| Cable work | Fish tape or glow rods, low-voltage mounting brackets, wall plates, in-wall rated HDMI, ties and hook-and-loop |
| Site protection | Drop cloths, shoe covers, a shop vacuum and a way to catch drywall dust before it settles into a rug |
| Access | A ladder that fits your vehicle, and a vehicle that can carry a ladder, a mount and a panel dolly at the same time |
A stud finder and one cordless drill in a backpack is not a working kit for this ZIP. If you are close but not complete, say so on the call — that is a solvable gap, not an automatic no.
What has to be there on day one, and what we will teach
Non-negotiable from the first job: you can read a wall, you can hang something dead level, you can dress cable so it looks deliberate, and you can stand in somebody’s living room without making them nervous. Mounting is a customer-facing trade. A large share of the complaints in this industry have nothing to do with the bracket.
Teachable, and we are happy to teach it: HDMI handshake and HDCP troubleshooting, ARC and eARC setup on a soundbar, recessed power kit installation, patching and touch-up after a cut, and the low-voltage cabling side of the business.
Especially valuable on this particular route: composure in occupied homes with pets and small children underfoot, and the patience to protect a brand-new floor in a townhome somebody moved into last week.
We are a low-voltage contractor before we are anything else, so installers who want more than mounting tend to drift into camera, network and Wi-Fi work. If that is the direction you want, say it out loud — it changes what we send you.
Insurance, licensing and how onboarding works
EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor and has been operating since roughly 2004, with a 5.0-star rating attached to its name. Work carried out under that name is held to the same standard, which means the paperwork is real and it happens before your first stop.
- Subcontractors are generally expected to carry their own general liability coverage and produce a current certificate, along with a W-9 and a valid driver’s licence.
- You need transport that can genuinely hold the job, and a phone you answer during dispatch hours.
- Mounting a television is not itself a state-licensed trade in Texas, but parts of the low-voltage world — the alarm and security side in particular — are regulated and are performed under company credentials. Exactly where your role sits relative to that gets explained plainly in the interview, not hinted at here.
- Background screening may apply depending on what you are assigned, because you are being let into people’s homes.
Compensation is discussed during the interview. It moves with scope, complexity and experience, and we are not going to pretend otherwise by printing a number on a web page that cannot possibly know any of those three things.
