TV Mounting & Installer Jobs in Houston 77009 — Near Northside, Lindale Park, Woodland Heights

This is a recruitment page, not a sales page. EVOTECH IT LLC dispatches TV mounting and low-voltage work through 77009 — Near Northside, Lindale Park, Woodland Heights and the streets either side of North Main — and we take on installers and subcontractors to run it. Below is what the work is, what the houses are like, what you are expected to arrive with, and how to reach us about it.

The short version of the role

Mount screens properly, hide the wiring properly, treat somebody’s home with respect, and report accurately. That is the whole role in one line — the rest of this page is detail.

Day to day you will be setting flat panels onto living-room, bedroom and den walls, fitting soundbars, running concealed cable where the job calls for it, and occasionally undoing somebody else’s work that has begun to sag off a wall. Some calls are forty-five minutes. Some are half a day because the wall behind the drywall turned out to be brick, or because the customer wants the equipment relocated into a closet with a clean IR path.

You are not selling anything. Estimates, quoting and change orders route through the office. Your job is to arrive prepared, execute cleanly, communicate clearly and document what you did.

Two arrangements are available: independent subcontractors who carry their own insurance and invoice, and installers who want scheduled work through the company. Both are open; which one fits gets decided in conversation.

Near Northside, Lindale Park and Woodland Heights in practice

77009 sits close in, which changes the rhythm of a route. Drive times between stops are short, so a day can carry more calls than an outer-suburb route — but the same closeness means you are threading I-45 and North Main at the worst possible hours if you do not think about sequencing.

The housing is genuinely varied:

  • Near Northside holds a lot of modest early-to-mid-century frame houses on compact lots, alongside newer townhome infill that has gone up along the corridors over recent years. Detached garages and rear access are common.
  • Lindale Park is a planned post-war neighbourhood of low-slung brick homes under a mature tree canopy — solid masonry veneer, generous lots, wide driveways, and the sort of interior layouts where the obvious TV wall is often an exterior wall.
  • Woodland Heights runs to early-century bungalows on the White Oak side, many restored, with the finish quality and the wall surprises that go with that.

A meaningful share of households in this ZIP speak Spanish at home. An installer who can run an entire visit in Spanish — agreeing the height, explaining why a particular wall will not carry the screen, walking somebody through the finished setup — is not just convenient here, they are better at the job. If that is you, say so when you get in touch.

Parking is usually workable, but not always: narrow streets, cars on both kerbs and the odd unpaved verge mean you plan where the ladder is coming out of the vehicle before you are standing in the road.

Lath, plaster and post-war brick: the craft side of a 77009 call

Plenty of the stock predates modern drywall, and that is where the skill shows up.

Wood lath under plaster does not behave like a sheet of gypsum. It breaks in keys behind the surface, it cracks outward along the grain if you drill hot, and any detector you own will misread it in one direction or the other. The technique is patient: locate structure by physical evidence, drill slowly with the right bit, and never let an anchor carry a load the framing should be carrying.

Then there is masonry. Lindale Park and much of the post-war stock is brick, and interior chimney breasts are brick too. A screen going onto masonry needs the right bit, the right anchor and a bracket pattern that lands in brick rather than in mortar joint — and it needs you to be sure the customer really wants it there before the first hole is permanent.

Two more things come up often enough to mention:

  • Foundations vary. Pier-and-beam and slab both exist within a few streets of each other, and that decides whether a cable can drop under the floor or has to travel another way.
  • Electrical is not always modern. Where a recessed power kit is part of the job, you work within what the components are rated for and you flag anything that looks like it needs a licensed electrician rather than an installer. Nobody is asked to improvise around that.

In-wall concealment is done with components meant for it. A standard appliance cord never gets buried inside a wall cavity, whatever the customer saw somebody do online.

What a week of dispatched work tends to look like

Work is sent out ahead of time with the address, the panel size and model, the wall as the customer described it, and any notes from booking. You confirm you are loaded for wood, masonry and metal stud before you leave, because the description and the reality diverge more often here than in new construction.

A week usually mixes straightforward bedroom and den mounts with two or three heavier calls — an above-fireplace installation, a concealed run into a closet, a full living-room setup with a soundbar and a relocated outlet. Occasional commercial calls come from the small businesses and offices along the main corridors.

If a job runs long, dispatch needs to hear it early rather than late. If the customer asks for more than was booked, that goes back to the office for pricing. If something cannot be done safely or legally the way it was sold, saying so is the right answer and it will never be held against you.

Availability is agreed up front. Evening and Saturday slots exist because many people in this ZIP cannot be home during working hours, and installers who can reliably cover those windows tend to stay busy.

What you bring, and what the company handles

You bring: your own hand tools and power tools with charged batteries, levels you trust, masonry and long flex bits, structural fasteners and anchors in a range of sizes, fish rods, low-voltage brackets and plates, drop cloths and a vacuum, a ladder, and a vehicle that carries all of it with a mount and a panel dolly still on board. You also bring a phone you answer and the willingness to be photographed-quality tidy at the end of every job.

The company handles: customer acquisition, booking, pricing, change orders, disputes and the back-office paperwork. EVOTECH has run as a licensed, insured low-voltage contractor since around 2004 and carries a 5.0-star rating — you are not building a reputation from scratch on your own.

Paperwork expectations: subcontractors are normally asked for a current general liability certificate, a W-9 and a valid driver’s licence. Depending on the type of work assigned, background screening may apply, since this is work inside occupied homes. Parts of the wider low-voltage field — notably alarm and security work — are regulated in Texas and are carried out under company credentials; where your role sits relative to that is spelled out directly in the interview.

What the work is worth gets settled face to face. It moves with the size of the job, how much concealment and cabling is involved, and what you have done before, so no rate is published here.

Apply for installer work on the 77009 route

Phone (832) 359-2425 and say you are calling about work rather than booking a mount, or use the contact page if writing suits you better.

Have a short, honest summary ready: years in the trade, the kinds of walls you have worked on, whether you handle concealment and recessed power, your insurance position, your vehicle, whether you work alone or with a second person, and the hours you can genuinely commit to. Photos of your finished work are the strongest thing you can send.

Dispatch also reaches Sugar Land, Richmond, Fulshear, Katy, Cypress and the surrounding Texas communities, so tell us how far you are prepared to travel. Routes are assigned close to home first wherever possible — it is better for you and better for the customer.

Frequently asked questions

Is being bilingual actually an advantage on this route?
Yes, genuinely. A large number of households in 77009 speak Spanish at home, and a visit goes better when the installer can agree the mounting height, explain what is behind the wall and demonstrate the finished setup in the customer’s own language. It is listed here because it affects the work, not as a box to tick.
A lot of these houses are pier and beam. Does that change anything for me?
It changes your options for getting a cable from A to B. Under-floor routing can be available where a slab would force you up into an attic or along a different path, and knowing which foundation you are standing on before you plan the run saves an hour. It also means floor levels and thresholds are rarely perfectly true, so set the panel to the room, not to a single reference line.
Do I supply the in-wall rated cable and recessed power kits, or does the company?
That depends on how the individual job was sold, and you will be told before you go. What is constant is the standard: concealed work uses components rated for in-wall use, and a standard power cord is never buried in a wall cavity. You supply your own tools, fasteners and general consumables in every case.
How far outside 77009 would I actually be sent?
As close as the schedule allows. Stops are clustered geographically because that is efficient for everybody, but the company works a wide footprint across the Houston area and neighbouring communities, so wider travel is possible if you want it. Tell us your comfortable radius and it will be respected.
I have years of experience but no company insurance of my own. Can I still apply?
Call anyway. Insurance requirements differ depending on whether you come on as an independent subcontractor or as scheduled labour, and that is one of the things the interview exists to sort out. Do not rule yourself out on a guess about paperwork.
Is there a trade certification or a written test?
Television mounting itself is not a licensed trade in Texas, so there is no certificate to produce for it. What there is instead is a practical assessment of your work — the walls you have done, how you handle an unexpected wall, and how you conduct yourself in a customer’s home. Regulated areas of low-voltage work are handled under the company’s own credentials.
What is the pay?
Discussed in the interview, not advertised here. Compensation follows the scope and complexity of the work you take on and the experience you bring to it, and publishing a single figure would misrepresent both easy jobs and hard ones.
