TV Hanging Technician Jobs in Houston, TX 77083

Almost every house on this route has a fireplace wall, a two-storey ceiling or a brick chimney breast somewhere in it — and a family who wants the television on it. EVOTECH IT LLC is adding TV hanging technicians for the Alief and Mission Bend side of southwest Houston, and the single most useful thing you can bring is genuine confidence with masonry.

Where this route runs

The 77083 work sits in the block bounded roughly by Bissonnet, Highway 6 South, Synott and the Eldridge side of Alief, running out into the Mission Bend subdivisions. It is dense, settled, family housing — long streets of two-storey brick homes built through the late seventies, eighties and nineties, with strip retail, clinics, salons and places of worship threaded along the main roads.

One practical note: part of Mission Bend sits over the Fort Bend county line. The drive is a few minutes different and the work is identical, so do not be surprised when a 77083 run has an address that is technically not in Harris County.

Two-storey family rooms and the mount everyone is nervous about

The signature job of this ZIP is a great room with a ceiling that runs up through both floors and a chimney breast climbing the whole height of it. Somebody has decided the television belongs up there, above the mantel, and how you handle that conversation matters more than how you handle the drill.

The honest technical position is that higher is usually worse: viewing angle, neck strain, and heat rising off a working firebox are all real. The right move is to explain the trade-off in plain words, offer the lower position or a pull-down articulating bracket where the wall allows it, and let the customer decide with the facts in front of them. If they still want it high, mount it properly and safely — but never let them find out about the compromise afterwards.

Practically, these are ladder jobs in a room with furniture in it, and cable rarely drops straight down because there is a firebox and a flue in the way. Plan the route to a side chase or surface raceway before you make the first hole.

Brick, stone and block: the moment the drill changes

Know what you are drilling into before the bit touches it. A brick veneer over a wood-framed wall behaves very differently from full masonry, and the anchor that is right in one is wrong in the other. Sinking a heavy bracket into the mortar joints of a veneer is a mistake we do not accept on our tickets.

  • Carry an SDS-plus rotary hammer and proper masonry bits. This route will use them weekly.
  • Switch the hammer function off for tile and thin stone veneer — percussion is what cracks a facing.
  • Match the anchor to the substrate and the panel weight, and be able to say out loud why you chose it.
  • Sheet the floor and run a vacuum at the bit. Brick dust on a pale carpet is a callback you created yourself.

One address, four walls: how a family house expands

Houses here are full. A single ticket for a family-room mount routinely turns into a bedroom, a converted garage, a game room upstairs and sometimes a patio before you have packed up. That is good work, and there is exactly one way to handle it: call the office before you start the extra, so the customer gets a proper itemised price and you get a fair allocation of time.

What we will not have is a technician pricing work at the kitchen table, and we will not have side arrangements made directly with a customer met on one of our tickets. That rule is not about suspicion; it is about the customer having one accountable company standing behind everything on their wall.

Working well in a very mixed neighbourhood

Alief is one of the most diverse places in Texas, and the households you enter will reflect that. Some are shoes-off homes; ask at the door rather than guess. Sometimes a teenager or a relative is translating for a parent — speak to the customer, not to the translator, and slow down rather than raise your voice.

Two habits earn more repeat work here than any technical skill. First, explain what you are about to do before you do it, especially before the first hole. Second, photograph only what the job requires. You are in somebody’s living room; the camera is for the bracket and the finished wall, not the room, and nothing you see in a house is ever discussed outside it.

Coverage, screening and what you are signing up to

The licence and the insurance behind this company have been maintained for over twenty years, and the entry requirements for technicians follow directly from wanting to keep it that way. Current general liability coverage at the agreed level, a valid driving licence, a vehicle suited to carrying large panels and ladders, and a completed background check before your first dispatch — we verify rather than take your word for it, and that protects you as much as the customer.

Scope is a firm line: low voltage is ours, electrical is not. Where a customer needs a new receptacle behind the panel or anything on a circuit, that is arranged through the office with a qualified electrician. Earnings are worked out at the interview itself, weighed against the range of jobs you are willing to take and how long you have been doing them — a conversation, deliberately, rather than a figure printed somewhere.

Applying for the Alief and Mission Bend call list

Start with a phone call to (832) 359-2425, or put your details in through the form on our contact page. Tell us how far you can travel comfortably, which days you are genuinely available, and what your insurance position is today.

If you have photographs, we would rather see a finished stone or brick mount with the cable invisible than a wall of easy drywall jobs. One well-handled hard surface tells us more about you than a dozen straightforward ones.

Frequently asked questions

How high should a television go over a fireplace?
As low as the mantel, the firebox heat and the room will allow. Our position is to recommend the lower mount or a pull-down bracket, explain why, and then respect whatever the customer chooses once they understand the trade-off.
Is a hammer drill really necessary for this area?
Yes. Between full-height chimney breasts, brick veneer and block, this route will put you into masonry most weeks. Turning up with a cordless drill and a box of drywall anchors means turning down half the tickets.
A customer asks me to add two more rooms while I am there — can I?
Call the office first, always. They will price it properly and adjust your day. Agreeing extra work and a figure at the kitchen table leaves the customer with no paperwork and you with no backing if something goes wrong later.
Will I be dispatched into Fort Bend County?
Sometimes, yes. The Mission Bend subdivisions straddle the county boundary, so a run built around this ZIP can cross it without anyone treating that as a separate territory.
What if the mount the customer bought online is missing parts or rated too light?
Stop and photograph it. Explain the mismatch simply, then let the office arrange the correct hardware. Forcing an underrated bracket onto a heavy panel is the single worst decision available on this job.
I have installed televisions for years but never worked for a company — is that a problem?
Not at all, provided you can meet the coverage and screening requirements. Plenty of good technicians come from exactly that background; what we add is dispatch, backing and paperwork you no longer have to chase.
How quickly could I be working after applying?
It depends almost entirely on documentation. Insurance and screening are the usual bottleneck, so arriving at the interview with your certificate already current moves things along considerably.
