TV Hanging Technician Jobs in Houston, TX 77018

Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, Shepherd Park Plaza and Candlelight Plaza, north of the 610 Loop. If you already know how to hang a display, the question that decides whether a route like this is worth your time is not the work itself — it is how many hours of the week it actually fills, and when.

How a working week gets built north of the Loop

Adverts for installer work tend to describe the task and go quiet about the calendar. Since the calendar is what determines whether this pays anyone’s rent, it belongs at the top of the page rather than buried at the bottom.

Assignments here are released against arrival windows rather than exact times, because nobody can promise a minute-accurate arrival across a city this size and it is dishonest to pretend otherwise. A window is a commitment you accept before the day, and the whole system depends on it being met. A technician who treats a window as a suggestion breaks the two assignments behind it as well as their own.

A day is grouped geographically. Because 77018 sits on a regular street grid with short blocks and genuine driveways, the drive time between two assignments in Oak Forest is measured in minutes rather than in half hours — which is exactly why the route can hold more work per day than the inner-Loop ZIP codes can. That density is the main reason a technician chooses to run up here.

What varies the count

  • Scope. A straightforward mount onto confirmed framing with a short concealed run is not the same animal as a multi-room job with an outdoor screen and cable pulled through an attic.
  • Whether the customer is ready. Furniture still against the wall, the panel still boxed in the garage, and a decision not yet made about where it goes will each add time.
  • Whether the wall cooperates. This is the one nobody can schedule around, and it is why windows exist instead of appointments.
  • Add-ons found at the door. A customer who asks about a camera or a dead network point while you are there does not get quoted on the spot. It goes back to the office and becomes separate work.

Assignments are offered ahead of the day and you know the panel size, the property type and the scope before you accept. That is deliberate. A technician who cannot see what they are agreeing to cannot plan a week, and one who cannot plan a week does not stay.

This trade has a calendar and this route feels all of it

Anyone who has done display work for a few years already knows the shape of the year, but it is worth being open about it rather than letting a new technician discover it in February.

Demand lifts around the run-up to the winter holidays and again at the start of the main football season, when people buy larger panels and want them up before a particular weekend. It lifts again through the moving months, because a house changing hands in this part of Houston generates mounting, cabling and camera work within weeks of the keys changing. It softens in the quieter stretches between. A technician who can carry adjacent skills — cameras, network points, sound — smooths that curve considerably, which is one reason we favour people who want to broaden rather than specialise narrowly.

Weather is a scheduling input here, not a complaint

Houston weather genuinely moves this work. Heavy storms close out attic and exterior tasks for the day, and anything on a covered patio or an outdoor screen goes back in the diary rather than being attempted wet. Summer heat is the other constraint: an unconditioned attic in an Oak Forest ranch is brutal by late morning, so runs that need attic access are put early in the day on purpose, and a technician who insists on doing them at two in the afternoon is making a bad decision for everyone. Rescheduling for weather is normal, expected, and not held against anyone.

What a post-war Oak Forest house asks of the person hanging the panel

The core of this ZIP code was built out in the years after the Second World War: single-storey houses on slab, set on wide lots under a heavy canopy of mature oaks, with a real driveway and often a detached garage at the back. Garden Oaks runs to larger lots and older, more individual houses; Shepherd Park Plaza and Candlelight Plaza follow the same post-war pattern; and scattered through all of it are two-storey replacement builds dropped onto original lots in the last two decades.

Several practical consequences follow, and they all touch the schedule.

Feature of the stockWhat it means on the day
Slab foundation, no crawl spaceThere is no route beneath the floor. Cable goes up into the attic and back down, or it goes in a surface raceway.
Low-pitch roofsAttic space at the edges of the house is shallow and awkward, and the run you were counting on may not be reachable at all.
Converted garages and added sunroomsFraming built to no particular rule, sometimes with the original exterior wall now sitting inside the house.
Wide lots, real driveways, detached garagesParking and unloading are easy. This is the main reason a day up here holds more assignments than one inside the Loop.
Deed-restricted sectionsAnything fixed to the outside of a house needs to be handled carefully and confirmed with the owner, not assumed.
Heavy tree coverAffects outdoor screens, exterior camera work and anything involving a roofline. Ladders go up with the canopy in mind.

None of this is exotic. It simply means the estimate you make at the door has to account for the house you are standing in rather than for the last one you worked in.

Requirements, conduct and the first conversation

EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor and has been working across Katy, Houston, Sugar Land, Richmond, Fulshear, Cypress and the surrounding area for more than twenty years, with a 5.0-star rating. Everyone taking assignments in our name has to be able to stand behind that.

What you need: demonstrable experience hanging displays or a closely related trade background; your own general liability cover with a certificate we can hold, if you operate as an independent contractor; working vehicle cover; a vehicle that can carry large cartons, ladders and a stocked tool kit; your own drills, hammer drill, scanners, levels and floor protection; and the ability to pass identity and background checks, because this work takes place inside people’s homes.

What we supply: the assignments, the scope and the customer relationship, plus mounts, brackets, in-wall rated cable, plates and consumables against each job.

Conduct that is not negotiable: arrive inside the window or call before it closes; no doorstep selling and no cash side arrangements; no quoting additional work yourself; photograph condition on arrival and the finished result before leaving; take the packaging with you; and stop and call the office rather than force an installation you are not confident in.

To start, call (832) 359-2425 or use the contact page. The first conversation is short and practical: what you have installed, what you drive, what you own, what you carry for cover, and which days are real. What you are paid is agreed in that same conversation, against the scope you take and the experience behind it. If you want to see the wider range of work first, our TV mounting, security camera installation and network cabling pages describe it.

Frequently asked questions

How many days a week does a route like this realistically fill?
It varies with the season and with how broad your skills are. Someone who will only take straightforward mounts sees a narrower week than someone who can also pull cable or fit a camera. We would rather set that expectation at interview against the work that genuinely exists than promise a number here that we might not be able to honour in a quiet month.
What time of day does the work actually happen up here?
Mostly ordinary daytime hours for residential assignments, weighted toward mid-morning onwards because people want to be home. Anything needing attic access is scheduled early on purpose in the warm months. The small commercial jobs along the 43rd Street and Ella corridors tend to run before opening or after close, so those sit at the edges of the day.
Am I obliged to accept every assignment I am offered?
No, and we would rather you declined in advance than accepted and struggled. You see the panel size, property type and scope before accepting. What is not acceptable is accepting and then dropping it on the day, because a customer has already arranged their afternoon around the window.
The window opens, I am at the door, and nobody answers. What then?
You call the office rather than leaving straight away, and you do not enter a property or start work on the say-so of a neighbour or a text message. The office handles the customer and the rescheduling. Attempting to sort it out yourself at the door is how access disputes begin.
Can I take time off, and how much notice do you need?
Yes. The only thing that matters is that it is known before assignments are committed to windows. Notice given while the diary is still open costs nobody anything; a cancellation the night before costs a customer their day. Technicians who communicate early are the ones who keep getting the best-grouped routes.
Does the work dry up at any point in the year?
It softens between the seasonal peaks rather than stopping. That is why we prefer technicians willing to broaden into cameras, cabling and audio — the quieter display months are the busier months for other parts of a low-voltage business, and people who can move between them have a much steadier year.
Is this paid per assignment or by the day?
That is one of the things settled at interview, along with the rate itself, because it depends on the arrangement and on the scope you are able to take. We do not publish figures. Anyone in this trade advertising a headline rate without knowing what you can do is quoting a number they may later need to withdraw.

A route that groups tightly and a calendar you can plan around

If you hang displays and you want honest scheduling instead of a headline rate, call (832) 359-2425 or apply through the contact page. Pay is decided in conversation, once we both know what the work will actually be.
