TV Hanging Technician Jobs in Houston, TX 77072

Alief keeps one of the densest concentrations of rental housing in Harris County, and rental housing turns over. EVOTECH IT LLC is interviewing TV hanging technicians who can work that rhythm — short notice, walk-up apartments, small independent businesses along Bellaire and Beechnut, and customers who are often standing in a home they do not own. Licensed, insured and 20+ years into low-voltage work around this city, EVOTECH holds a 5.0-star rating.

Read this first: who the 77072 board actually suits

This is not a general low-voltage listing and it is not a sales role. It is hands-on display installation in a busy, mostly residential ZIP, and it suits a particular kind of person.

  • You already own your tools, ladders and a drill that will go into masonry.
  • You can carry your own weight up an exterior stairwell without help and without damage.
  • You are comfortable working in occupied homes with children, pets and relatives in the room.
  • You can take a ticket the same week it is raised rather than in a fortnight.
  • You are content being judged on callbacks rather than on volume.

If most of that reads like your normal week, keep going. If you are looking for scheduled shift work at a fixed site, this is the wrong listing and we would rather say so now.

Alief moves on short notice

Most of the demand here is generated by people moving. A lease starts, a family unpacks, a television comes out of a box, and the request reaches us within days — sometimes hours. That produces a pattern you should understand before you apply.

Requests cluster at the end and the start of a month, and they cluster again in the weeks around the school calendar. Evenings matter more than they do in other parts of our service area, because a large share of customers here are not home until after six. Saturday is a full working day, not an overflow day.

The flip side is that the same-week nature of the work rewards whoever answers the phone. Technicians who can reliably take a Thursday evening slot in Alief tend to end up with as much work as they want, because that slot is genuinely hard to fill.

In a rental, the mount has to be able to come back off

A large fraction of your addresses will be leased. That changes the installation, not just the paperwork.

Before anything is drilled

Establish who controls the wall. Whoever booked the job is not automatically the one with the right to put a hole in it. Where a property manager’s approval is required, it is required before you start and not after — we will normally have that settled on the ticket, and if the ticket is silent and the customer is unsure, ring dispatch rather than guessing.

Choices that make a move-out easier

  • Pick the anchor pattern that puts the fewest holes in the wall for the load, and keep them inside the footprint the plate will cover.
  • Avoid oversize holes where a smaller correctly rated anchor will carry the panel.
  • Leave spare hardware, the template and the manual with the tenant rather than in your van.
  • Photograph existing damage on arrival. Marks that were there before you came have a way of becoming your marks at move-out unless there is a picture with a timestamp.

None of this means undersizing anything. A reversible mount is still a safe mount; it is a mount chosen with a patch in mind.

Third-floor walk-ups and the box that will not make the turn

Very little of the apartment stock in 77072 has a lift. Assume stairs, assume an exterior stairwell with a handrail that eats clearance, and assume the parking space nearest the unit belongs to somebody else.

Before you shoulder a 75-inch carton up two flights, walk it once empty. Check the turn at the landing, the door swing at the top and whether the box goes in flat or on edge. If the honest answer is that it does not go safely with one person, say so on the phone before you arrive — a second technician costs an hour of scheduling and a dropped panel costs considerably more.

Gate codes and call boxes are their own small discipline. Confirm the code on the ticket while you are still in the van, not while a car queues behind you. Where the complex routes visitors through a leasing office, that office keeps its own hours and closes earlier than you expect on a Saturday.

Clinics, restaurants and the multi-screen side of the board

Roughly a third of what we dispatch in this ZIP is not somebody’s living room. It is a waiting room with four screens on one source, a restaurant that wants menu displays above a counter, or a small office that needs a display in a meeting room without cable showing.

Technically this is a step up from a single panel, and it is where a technician earns a reputation with us:

  • Long runs stop being HDMI cable and start being an extender over twisted pair, which means you need to terminate properly and test.
  • Tenant-finish partitions rarely go to deck, so what looks like a solid wall may be open above the ceiling grid — useful for a cable route, dangerous if you assume it is sealed.
  • Anything above a suspended ceiling needs plenum-rated cable and independent support, never a cable lying on the tiles.
  • Most of these businesses cannot close, so the work happens before opening or after the last customer.

Whether you arrive already able to do that work or want to learn it on our tickets, say which at the interview. Both answers are acceptable; pretending is not.

What has to be true on paper before you take a ticket

We verify a short list and we verify it before your first address, not after it: general liability insurance that is live today and written to you, commercial cover on whatever vehicle turns up at the address, a valid driver’s licence, a completed W-9 and a background screening.

The low-voltage licence for cabling work belongs to EVOTECH and the work you do on our tickets runs under it, with our supervision and our warranty behind it. That protects the customer and it protects you. Any credential you hold personally is welcome information and does not replace the insurance requirement.

What you earn gets settled in that conversation, measured against the scope you are taking and the depth of what you already know. No figure appears on this page because no honest figure could — a single panel over drywall and an evening multi-screen fit-out are not the same job.

How the day is built, and what dispatch needs back from you

Tickets arrive by message with the address, the screen size, the mount, the gate or suite details and the window. Accept or decline quickly; silence is the only response that causes a problem.

We cluster addresses so you are not crossing the Beltway repeatedly in one afternoon. Where a business ticket has to happen before opening, it sits at the front of the day and the residential work stacks behind it.

At the end of each job we want photographs: the untouched wall, the fixings before the plate covers them, the screen lit and straight on, and wherever the cable ended up — plus a plain note on anything that deviated from the ticket. A short honest note costs you two minutes and settles arguments that would otherwise cost an afternoon.

How to apply for Alief work

Phone (832) 359-2425. If writing suits you better, the contact form reaches the same desk. Say how long you have been installing, whether you are insured today, what you drive, which evenings and weekends you can genuinely hold, and whether you have done multi-screen or extender work before.

We will talk, check documents, and start you on a straightforward apartment ticket in 77072 before anything more complicated is offered. That first job is as much for your benefit as ours.

Frequently asked questions

Who supplies the mount, the anchors and the cable?
It varies by ticket and the ticket will say. Some customers buy their own bracket before we arrive; on others we specify and supply. Consumables and anchors appropriate to what you find are expected to be in your van, because the wall does not always match the description taken over the phone.
The tenant wants it on the wall and the lease clearly says no. What do I do?
Do not drill. Explain calmly that you cannot put a hole in a wall the occupant is not entitled to alter, call dispatch, and let us take the conversation. There are usually alternatives — a stand, a different wall, or a written approval from the property — but none of them are yours to authorise standing in the doorway.
Is any of this commercial, or is it all apartments?
Both. The residential side is the volume, but a steady share of 77072 dispatch is small independent business — clinics, restaurants, salons and small offices along the main corridors. Those tickets are usually before opening or after close and they are the ones where cabling skill separates people.
Do I need a truck, or will a car work?
You need to be able to transport ladders and get a large carton to an address safely and legally. A van or pickup is the practical answer. What matters more than the badge on it is that it is insured commercially and that your ladders are secured properly on the road.
What happens if I have to cancel on the morning?
Ring dispatch immediately rather than the customer. Things happen — illness, a vehicle, a family emergency — and an early call means we can reassign and keep the customer informed. A no-show without a call is treated very differently from a cancellation with one.
