TV Mounting Jobs in Katy, TX 77494

South of I-10, Katy is not a move-in market — it is an upgrade market. EVOTECH IT LLC is looking for installers who are comfortable in finished, lived-in homes with builder wiring already in the walls, media rooms upstairs and a gate guard at the front of the subdivision.

The kind of installer this side of the freeway needs

77494 is the Fort Bend side of Katy: Cinco Ranch, Seven Meadows, Grand Lakes, Kelliwood, Falcon Ranch, Pin Oak and the neighborhoods that grew up around them between the mid-1990s and the mid-2010s. Nobody there just moved in with boxes in the hallway. The furniture is placed, the paint is chosen, and the customer has lived with that wall for a decade and has opinions about it.

That changes what we need from a subcontractor. Speed is useful. Care is mandatory. The installer who does well here is the one who puts down a drop cloth before opening a tool bag, who asks where the family actually sits before marking a height, and who treats a fifteen-year-old wall as something that can be damaged rather than something that will forgive a second attempt.

It also tends to reward breadth. Plenty of these houses have a dedicated media room, in-ceiling speakers that were never finished properly, a projector that has never been aligned, or a rack of equipment in a closet that nobody has touched since the builder left. An installer who can handle the display and then keep going is worth more work to us than one who can only hang a bracket.

Beyond the bracket: what a 77494 job usually includes

The service request may say TV mounting. What is waiting at the house is frequently broader, and the installers who read that correctly on arrival are the ones who finish the day without a second trip.

Builder structured wiring

Homes built through this era very often have a structured media panel in a closet or the utility room, with coax and category cable home-run back to it from bedrooms and the family room. Some of it was terminated well. Some of it was terminated by whoever was cheapest that week. Knowing how to trace, test and re-terminate those runs turns a frustrating afternoon into a clean result, and it is a genuinely useful skill on this side of I-10.

Game rooms and media rooms

Upstairs game rooms are near-universal in these plans, and a good number of the larger homes have a purpose-built media room with a projector, a screen and in-wall speakers. Work there ranges from a straightforward large-panel mount to pulling a long HDMI run to a ceiling-mounted projector and getting the geometry right.

Fireplace walls and two-story entries

Brick and stone fireplace surrounds are common in the older sections, and the wall above them is often a different construction than the drywall beside it. Two-story entries and family rooms mean height, and height means the right ladder and the patience to set up properly instead of reaching.

Equipment tidy-up

A surprising share of visits end with the customer asking whether you can also make the cabinet stop looking like a nest of cable. Say yes when it is reasonable, log it with dispatch, and do it properly.

Gates, HOAs and the scheduling realities of Cinco Ranch

Large master-planned communities create logistics that installers from outside the area routinely underestimate. It is worth knowing before you take your first dispatch here.

  • Gated sections. Several enclaves inside these subdivisions are gated, some with a call box and some with an attendant. You will need the gate code or the customer’s name on the visitor list before you leave the previous job, not while idling at the keypad.
  • Long internal drives. Cinco Ranch and Seven Meadows are big. Two addresses that look adjacent on a map can be ten minutes apart through winding residential streets and school-zone speed limits.
  • School traffic. Katy ISD campuses are dense through this ZIP and the afternoon release windows can genuinely cost you a half-hour if a stop is badly timed. Experienced installers book around them.
  • Driveway and garage etiquette. Narrow driveways, side-load garages and HOA rules about parked work vehicles mean you check with the homeowner about where to put the truck rather than assuming.
  • Exterior work. If a job involves anything visible from the street — a patio display, an exterior mount, a cable run on a wall — the homeowner may need HOA architectural approval. That is their responsibility, but you should raise it rather than discover it afterward.

None of this is difficult. It just has to be handled before the appointment instead of during it.

How dispatch, communication and follow-up work

EVOTECH IT LLC has been a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor in this area for more than twenty years, and we hold a 5.0-star rating. The way we protect that is unremarkable and consistent: confirm, arrive, communicate, document.

You receive the job with the address, the scope as the customer described it, the screen details and any access notes. You confirm receipt. You contact the customer ahead of the window. If the scope on arrival does not match the scope on the ticket — and in lived-in homes it sometimes does not — you stop and call dispatch before doing anything that cannot be undone. You close the job with photographs and a short written note of what was actually done.

The part that catches people out is the silence, not the drilling. An installer who hits traffic and says so keeps the customer. An installer who simply arrives late does not. We route more work to people who are easy to reach.

Compensation is discussed during the interview and depends on the scope and your experience. We will not publish rates on a page, because the honest answer varies by job and anyone quoting you a universal figure before seeing your work is guessing.

Starting a conversation about work

Reach us at (832) 359-2425 or through the contact form. Useful things to have ready: how long you have been doing this, whether you carry general liability insurance, whether you have any audio-video or low-voltage background beyond displays, and a few photographs of finished walls — ideally including one where the cable management is visible.

We will ask for a W-9 and a current insurance certificate before your first dispatch. If you hold a Texas low-voltage or electrical license, mention it, because it widens what we can send you. Anything requiring line-voltage electrical work goes to a licensed electrician, without exception.

Our service area runs across Katy, Houston, Sugar Land, Richmond, Fulshear, Cypress and neighboring Texas communities, and we take on security camera, network cabling, access control and commercial audio-video work alongside display installation. If you would rather build a week out of mixed low-voltage work than a single trade, that is a conversation worth having.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need audio-video experience, or is display mounting enough?
Display mounting alone is enough to start. But the homes in this part of Katy are full of media rooms, projectors, in-wall speakers and builder equipment closets, so an installer who can also terminate a cable, align a projector or sort out a messy rack will see a wider variety of dispatches. Tell us honestly where your ceiling is — overstating it costs everyone a day.
What should I do when a house has a builder structured-wiring panel?
Open it, look before you cut, and use it. Many homes in this ZIP have coax and category cable already home-run from the family room and bedrooms to a central panel. Tracing and re-terminating an existing run is almost always faster and tidier than fishing a new one, and customers notice when you leave their panel labeled and closed rather than hanging open.
Are evening and weekend appointments part of the work?
Some of them, yes. These are working households and a share of appointments land after hours or on a Saturday by the customer’s request. We do not require anyone to take those, but availability is one of the honest factors in how much work reaches you, and we would rather you tell us your real limits than cancel later.
Who supplies the mount and hardware, the customer or the installer?
It varies by job and the ticket will say. Customers often buy their own bracket, which occasionally means arriving to find hardware that is not rated for the panel or the wall. When that happens, stop and call dispatch rather than making it work — we would rather reschedule than put a heavy screen on the wrong anchors.
Can I keep my own customers while taking work from EVOTECH?
Yes. We contract with independent installers and small crews, not employees, and most of the people we work with run their own jobs as well. What we ask is that a job you have accepted from us gets the same reliability as one of your own, and that you tell us early if your availability changes.
