1099 Installer Opening – Houston 77025

TV Mount Subcontractor Jobs in Houston 77025

Braeswood Place, Old Braeswood, Knollwood Village and the apartment corridors feeding the Texas Medical Center make 77025 an unusually mixed route: original post-war brick ranch houses on one street, a rebuilt two-story next door, and a rented one-bedroom five minutes away. EVOTECH IT LLC wants independent installers who can handle all three in the same afternoon.

What a working week in 77025 actually contains

This ZIP does not have one dominant job type. It has three, and an installer who can only do one of them will find the schedule thin.

First, the original neighbourhood housing. Much of Braeswood Place and Knollwood Village went up in the 1940s and 1950s as single-story brick homes with modest room proportions, and a good number are still close to original inside. Those jobs are usually one display in a den or living room, a fixed or tilt bracket, and a customer who wants the cable gone but does not want a construction project.

Second, the rebuilds. Streets here have been steadily reworked, and a fair share of lots now carry much larger newer houses, some of them raised after flood damage along the bayou corridor. Those behave like new construction: predictable framing, taller walls, media rooms, and owners expecting a fully concealed finish.

Third, rental turnover. Proximity to the Texas Medical Center means a constant cycle of residents, fellows, students and travelling clinical staff moving in and out of apartments and condos along the main corridors. That produces short, repeatable jobs with hard move-in deadlines.

An installer who is comfortable switching between a delicate plaster wall in the morning and a third-floor apartment in the afternoon gets offered a lot of work here.

Plaster, lath and houses that have been renovated twice

The defining technical challenge on the residential side of 77025 is the interior finish of a mid-century house that has been altered more than once.

Original construction of that period commonly used plaster, sometimes over wood lath and sometimes over rock lath board. Plaster does not forgive an impact driver or a fastener driven without a pilot. It chips at the surface, cracks away from the key behind it, and the damage spreads past the washer of the mount. The correct approach is slow: locate framing, mark it, drill a clean pilot through the finish at low speed, and seat the lag by hand feel rather than by trigger.

Layers make it worse. Many of these homes have had drywall installed over the original plaster during a remodel, or furring added during flood repair, which means a three-inch lag that would be more than adequate in new construction may barely reach the stud. Measuring the true depth to solid framing before you choose fastener length is the difference between a mount that holds and a callback.

Exterior walls are commonly brick veneer over wood framing, so an anchor set in what the customer calls a brick wall may in fact need to find the stud behind it. Interior masonry shows up mostly at chimney breasts, where a hammer drill and proper sleeve anchors are required.

Rooms in original houses are also smaller than modern great rooms, which makes screen size and viewing distance a conversation worth having before anything goes on the wall.

Apartment, condo and short-term rental work

Medical Center adjacency shapes a real part of this route, and the jobs have their own rhythm.

Tenants are often on a deadline and in a lease that limits what can be done to a wall. Complexes vary: some allow a mount with landlord approval and a patch at move-out, some forbid wall penetration entirely, and the honest answer in that case is a stand, a no-penetration solution, or a conversation with management before a drill comes out of the bag. Getting that wrong costs a tenant their deposit and costs us a customer.

Construction leans toward light-gauge metal stud in newer buildings and older wood framing in the mid-rise properties, so a mixed anchor kit matters. Demising walls between units and corridor walls are frequently fire-rated assemblies and are not places to improvise a cable pass-through.

Logistics are the other half. Loading zones, controlled-access doors, gate codes that change, stairs when an elevator is out, and parking that assumes you own a compact car. Short jobs turn into long ones when access is unplanned, so read the notes before you leave the previous stop.

The workmanship standard subcontractors are held to

We keep the list short on purpose. These are the things that get checked, and the reasons an installer stops receiving offers.

  • The screen is level to a laser, not to the ceiling line of a settled house.
  • Fasteners are correct for what is actually behind the finish, and the installer can say what that was.
  • Nothing hangs, sags or loops. Cable is either inside the wall or inside proper concealment, and lengths are chosen rather than coiled.
  • Viewing height is confirmed with the person who will sit in the room before a hole is made.
  • Dust is contained and removed. Plaster dust on a dark floor is visible from across the room.
  • Damage is reported immediately by the person who caused it. That is a survivable conversation; a discovered and unreported one is not.
  • What is on the ticket is what gets installed. Scope changes go through the office, not through a handshake at the door.

None of this is exotic. It is simply the standard that lets a licensed contractor put its name on someone else’s work.

Independent status, insurance and licensing

EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor serving Katy, Houston, Sugar Land, Richmond, Fulshear, Cypress and surrounding Texas communities, in business for more than twenty years since roughly 2004 and rated 5.0 stars.

This is contract work, not employment. You operate your own business, carry your own general liability insurance, provide a W-9, handle your own tax obligations, and either carry workers compensation or sign the appropriate waiver as a sole operator. Any low-voltage work you perform under our scope must satisfy the licensing that applies to it in Texas. You supply your tools, your ladders and your vehicle, and you choose which offered jobs to accept.

What the work pays is settled at interview and depends on the scope you take on and the experience behind you. No figure appears on this page, and nobody should join expecting a number they read on a website.

Getting onto the 77025 rotation

Call (832) 359-2425 or apply through the contact page, and mention the Braeswood and Medical Center area specifically so the conversation starts in the right place.

Useful to have in front of you: how long you have installed, whether you have worked on plaster or older framing before, what your anchor and tool inventory covers, how you handle apartment jobs where drilling is restricted, your insurance carrier, and the days and hours you can realistically take. Photographs of finished installations tell us more in thirty seconds than a page of description.

If you are a careful installer who would rather do four jobs properly than six in a hurry, this route suits you.

Frequently asked questions

Do a lot of jobs here involve older plaster walls?
Enough that it is worth asking about in the interview. Large parts of this ZIP are original post-war construction, and installers who have only worked modern drywall tend to chip plaster on their first few jobs.
What do I do when an apartment tenant is not allowed to drill?
Do not drill. Offer a non-penetrating option or route it back to the office so the landlord or complex can be asked properly. Protecting the tenant’s deposit is part of doing the job right.
Are the jobs near the Medical Center mostly small?
Many are: one display, one room, a tight deadline around a move-in date. They are useful for filling gaps between longer residential jobs rather than for carrying a whole day on their own.
Do I need to be able to work in an attic?
On the rebuilt and two-story homes it helps considerably, because an attic route is often the cleanest path for a concealed run. It is not a hard requirement, but it widens the work you can take.
How quickly are jobs offered after I am approved?
That depends on volume in the area and on how wide a radius you accept. Nobody is promised a set number of jobs, and we do not make income claims. Installers who accept a broader service area and respond quickly see more offers.
