TV Mount Subcontractor Jobs in Houston, TX 77009

One ZIP code north of downtown holds restored bungalows, working-class frame houses, a dense strip of family businesses and a set of rail crossings that can eat twenty minutes of your afternoon. EVOTECH IT LLC dispatches mounting orders across all of it, and this page describes the 77009 route as an installer actually experiences it.

Four neighborhoods share this ZIP code and none of them work the same

An installer who treats 77009 as one place will misjudge half the addresses on it.

Along the western edge, the Woodland Heights and Norhill blocks are tree-lined, restored and precious about finishes; the customer there behaves like a Heights customer. North and east, Lindale Park is a planned 1930s neighborhood of solid, low bungalows on generous lots with wide setbacks. Further in toward downtown, the Near Northside is older frame housing mixed with churches, corner stores and light industry, interleaved with new townhome construction wedged onto old lots. Brooke Smith sits in between, half restored and half not, sometimes on the same block.

What that means in practice: you cannot carry one assumption about wall construction, one assumption about who is home during the day, or one assumption about how long a job takes. You read the address when you pull up, not before.

A large share of this route is somebody’s storefront

The Northside runs on small independent business — taquerias, panaderías, barbershops, tire shops, cantinas, church halls and community rooms. Those rooms want screens, and the orders that come with them are some of the most satisfying work on the board because they are visible to a whole neighborhood.

They also come with their own rules:

  • The room stays open. Unlike a large chain, a family business rarely closes for an installation. You will be working around customers, so cordon the area, keep the ladder base protected and never leave a tool unattended at floor level.
  • Older buildings, unknown walls. Commercial structures along the main corridors may be masonry, plaster over block, or a partition somebody framed in 1978. Probe before you commit; there may be no drawings for any of it.
  • Height and sightline. Owners want the screen seen from the counter and from the back table at the same time. Ask where the customers sit before you pick a location — that one question prevents most remounts.
  • Cash-register reality. Do not block a register, a service window or a kitchen pass during the lunch rush. Schedule the noisy part of the work for the quiet hour and confirm it with the owner.

Frame houses, later additions and the wall nobody drew

The residential stock here is largely wood frame from the 1920s through the 1950s, much of it modified since. Rooms were added, porches were enclosed, a carport became a den, and a good share of that work was done without a permit or a plan. The consequence for an installer is that framing behind a wall may be irregular, undersized, or attached in a way you would not have chosen.

Rule of thumb: if the wall you are asked to mount on sits in an addition and behaves oddly under the probe — spongy, hollow at unpredictable spacing, or with a visible sag — do not force a heavy panel onto it. Photograph it, propose an alternative wall, and call the office if the customer pushes back. There is no reward here for being brave.

Two other conditions show up often enough to plan for. Original exterior siding on houses of this age may be an asbestos-containing product; it is not something to cut, sand or drill blind. And older interior finishes sometimes hide a previous owner’s wiring. If you encounter either one, stop the exterior part of the scope and report it — EVOTECH redesigns the route rather than putting an installer in a position to guess.

Spanish on the job is an advantage, not a requirement

Plenty of households and business owners on this route prefer to do business in Spanish, and an installer who can explain a mount height, a cable route and a warranty question in the customer’s own language finishes faster and gets fewer callbacks. It is a genuine edge on the Northside and worth mentioning when you apply.

It is not a condition of taking orders. Installers who work only in English run these addresses successfully by doing the same things that work anywhere: showing rather than telling, drawing the layout on the wall with a pencil before drilling, and confirming agreement with a gesture and a look at the customer’s face rather than a rushed yes.

Rail crossings, one-ways and how a realistic day gets planned

Geography shapes the schedule more than usual inside this ZIP code. Freight rail lines cut across the Northside and a stopped train can hold a crossing long enough to wreck a tight appointment window. The bayou, the interstate spurs and a set of one-way streets mean the short route on a map is often not the short route in a truck.

  • Learn two ways in and out of the neighborhoods you accept work in, and use the second one when a crossing is blocked.
  • Street parking is generally available, but driveways are narrow and some older properties have no off-street access at all. Do not block a neighbor’s drive to save a walk.
  • Evening appointments are common for households where everyone works days. Say clearly which evenings you are willing to run so dispatch does not build a week you cannot keep.
  • Message the customer when you are leaving your previous stop. On this route, a train is an explanation; silence is not.

What has to be true before your first order, and how to apply

Before an order is released to you, three things need to exist: an active business with insurance that can be evidenced, tools and transport you own, and a conversation with us about the kind of work you want to take. That last one is not a formality — an installer who wants only residential work should say so rather than accepting a taqueria with four screens and resenting it.

Bring to the call: how long you have been mounting displays, your comfort with masonry and with commercial ladder work, whether you carry your own helper, your general liability position, whether you also do cameras or cabling, and the hours you actually want to work. Photographs of finished installs help more than any résumé.

Start with (832) 359-2425 and mention 77009, or put the same details on the contact page. EVOTECH carries a low-voltage contractor license and its own insurance, has roughly two decades behind it in this market, and holds a 5.0-star customer rating that every installer on the list is expected to protect. What you are paid comes out of the interview and follows the scope and your experience.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to speak Spanish to get orders in 77009?
No. It helps, and we will route language-preference jobs to installers who have it, but a careful installer who communicates visually and patiently does fine here. Mention your languages when you apply so dispatch can match sensibly instead of guessing.
A room was clearly added later and the framing is strange. Who makes the call?
You make the first call on site: do not hang a heavy display on framing you cannot verify. Photograph what you found, offer the customer a wall you can stand behind, and if there is disagreement, phone the office before anything is drilled. Unpermitted additions are common on this route and nobody is criticized for flagging one.
Are the storefront jobs treated differently from the house calls?
The contracting relationship is identical; the expectations on site are not. Commercial addresses usually mean working while the business is open, tidier cable management in a public room, and a close-out that shows how each screen is fed. If commercial work is not for you, say so at the interview and your route will be residential.
What do I do if I think the exterior siding contains asbestos?
Stop that part of the job. Do not cut, drill, sand or break it, and do not try to assess it yourself — testing and abatement are not in our scope and not in yours. Report it to the office, finish whatever interior work is safe, and we will redesign the route or decline the exterior portion.
Can I take 77009 work if my base is on the other side of Houston?
You can, but be realistic about it. Installers who make this route pay take it with neighboring inner-loop areas so their day is not mostly windshield time. Tell us where you are based and we will be honest about whether we can build a sensible day for you.
