Installer Openings — Established Cypress

TV Installer Jobs in Cypress, TX 77429

If you mount televisions for a living, the eastern half of Cypress is where the craft part of the trade still lives. EVOTECH IT LLC is adding installers and low-voltage subcontractors to the 77429 rotation, and what follows is an honest description of the work rather than a recruiting pitch.

Retrofit and fish-wall workMasonry fireplace mountsExperienced techs and crewsJones Rd / Grant Rd / LouettaInsurance required

Why 77429 is a retrofit installer’s ZIP code

77429 covers the established half of Cypress: the neighborhoods off Jones Road, Grant Road, Louetta and Spring Cypress that filled in through the 1980s and 1990s. Mature trees, mature landscaping, and houses that were wired for an era of one cable outlet per room.

That is the defining feature of this work. There is no structured media panel waiting in a closet for you. There is a coax drop from a cable company that has changed names three times, an outlet placed where a tube television used to sit, and a homeowner who now wants a large flat panel eight feet away with no visible wire anywhere. Everything in between is yours to solve, and solving it cleanly is the entire skill.

Practically that means fishing walls for a living. Two-story houses in these subdivisions often put the media wall on an exterior wall with insulation and fire blocking inside it. Attic access exists but the attics are original, which means settled blown-in insulation, almost no clearance at the eaves, and trusses nobody gets to cut. Crawling a 1987 attic in August is part of the job here, and we would rather you know that before your first dispatch than after it.

Older houses hide other surprises: brittle coax with a jacket that cracks when you flex it, a splitter cascade in a garage that no one has opened since the last provider, no low-voltage rings anywhere, and the occasional abandoned box behind a wall that still has power to it. Kill the circuit and look before you cut.

The three jobs you will see most on this side of Cypress

Most of the volume in this ZIP falls into three shapes, and each one asks something different from you.

The living room relocation

A family has been in the house twenty years, the furniture is finally moving, and the television needs to land where there is no outlet and no signal. You are creating pathway, running in-wall rated cable, patching what you opened, and matching wall texture well enough that nobody notices next month.

The fireplace mount

Brick or stone above a working firebox. You are drilling masonry, selecting anchors that actually belong in masonry, thinking about heat and sightline, and frequently talking a customer down to a height their neck will forgive five years from now. Show up with a hammer drill and the correct bits or decline the job.

The whole-house cleanup

Three or four displays, a pile of legacy wiring, and a request to make it all behave as one system. These widen into network cabling and sometimes camera work, which is exactly where a tech who can do more than hang a bracket becomes valuable to us.

What you need settled before your first dispatch

Four things, in this order.

  1. Proof you can do the work. Photographs of finished installs are worth more to us than a resume. Show us a clean masonry mount and a cable run you are proud of.
  2. Tools and transportation. Your own vehicle, ladders that reach a two-story vaulted ceiling safely, a hammer drill, fish rods and tape, a stud finder you have learned to distrust slightly, and enough hardware riding in the van to finish without a supply run.
  3. Insurance. General liability plus vehicle coverage, certificate on file, renewed when it renews. EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured contractor and we are not going to let the subcontract side be the weak link in that.
  4. A background check. You are walking into people’s homes. Nobody who has done this work is surprised by that requirement.

Compensation comes up at the interview and depends on the scope you take and the experience you bring to it. We do not advertise rates, because a number printed on a page tends to become a promise that does not survive contact with a real job.

How routes, drive time and scheduling actually work

Routes here are built geographically because they have to be. FM 1960, Jones Road and Grant Road do not forgive a badly ordered day, and neither does school traffic across Cy-Fair. We cluster stops so you travel in one direction, and we give the customer an arrival window instead of a hard minute, because a masonry mount that turns into two hours cannot be rushed without leaving a permanent mark on somebody’s brick.

You phone the customer before you roll. You document the finished install with photos. If you find something that changes the price, such as a wall that needs backing, a run that has to leave the building, or a splitter that should have been replaced a decade ago, you stop and call in. The customer is re-quoted before you continue. We do not surprise homeowners with an invoice, and we do not ask an installer to carry that conversation alone in someone’s living room.

Most techs who run this ZIP also take work in 77433 and north Houston. Availability across several ZIP codes is the simplest way to be offered more jobs.

Applying for installer work in 77429

Call (832) 359-2425 and say you are calling about installer work, or use the contact form and put the word INSTALLER on the first line so it gets routed correctly.

Tell us how long you have been mounting, whether you have done masonry, what vehicle and ladders you own, whether you carry liability insurance today or need time to arrange it, and which days of the week you can genuinely commit to. If you are already half of a two-person crew, say so. Several of the larger multi-display jobs in this area go faster and finish cleaner with two people, and we would rather dispatch a pair who already work together than introduce strangers on a customer’s staircase.

We read all of these and we answer the ones that tell us something concrete. A single line saying you are interested gives us nothing to work with.

Frequently asked questions

Is the work here mostly new installs or replacements?
Mostly replacements, relocations and cleanup of wiring that was installed for older equipment. Houses in 77429 were built before structured media panels were standard, so you are usually adapting what exists rather than starting from a clean pre-wire.
Do I really need a hammer drill?
For this ZIP, yes. Masonry and brick-faced fireplaces are extremely common on these floor plans, and a standard cordless drill with the wrong bits will cost you an hour and damage the customer’s brick.
Do you supply mounts and hardware, or do I?
Job-specific equipment such as the mount or an enclosure is sorted before dispatch. Everyday consumables, anchors, plates, clips and patching supplies are expected to be on your own truck.
My background is cable or satellite rather than TV mounting. Can I apply?
Yes, and that background transfers well. You already know attics, fishing walls and signal troubleshooting. Say so when you apply, and be honest about which parts are new to you.

Think you can fish a wall cleanly?

Send two photos of finished work and your availability. That tells us more in thirty seconds than a resume does.
