TV Hanging Technician Jobs in Cypress, TX 77429

Eastern Cypress has been built out for decades, which means almost nothing here is a blank wall. You are hanging displays in rooms that already have furniture, cable that was run by somebody else, and a fireplace the family is not going to let you improvise on. EVOTECH IT LLC wants hanging technicians who choose the right hardware before they open a box.

Two very different kinds of work sit on this board

Technicians who ask what a week here looks like get an honest answer: roughly half of it is inside family homes built between the late seventies and the early two-thousands, and the rest is small commercial along the Jones Road, Huffmeister and FM 1960 corridors.

The residential half is replacement-heavy. Somebody bought a larger screen, the old bracket does not fit it, the existing cable is too short, and the wall already has holes in it from a previous attempt. That is the normal starting condition, not the exception, and a technician who can tidy somebody else’s work without complaining about it is worth a lot on this side of Cypress.

The commercial half is waiting rooms, break rooms, gyms, restaurants and small medical suites. Different rules apply: higher mounting positions, tamper-resistant hardware, displays that run twelve hours a day, and appointment windows that often fall before opening or after close. It is steadier work than people expect and it is where a technician with good presentation tends to get repeat requests.

Choosing hardware before you touch the wall

Most callbacks we see in retrofit work trace to a bracket decision, not a drilling mistake. The customer ordered a bracket online, or the box that came with the display is nominally rated for it, and nobody checked it against how the room is actually used. Part of the technician role here is making that call and explaining it.

Situation in the roomWhat the mount has to doWhere it goes wrong
Seating directly in front, flat wall, cable already presentLow-profile fixed mount, minimum standoffChoosing full-motion for no reason, then losing depth for the cable connectors.
Display above a fireplace, seating belowTilt or a pull-down type so the viewing angle is survivableFlat-mounting high and leaving a family looking up at a ceiling reflection.
Open-plan room viewed from kitchen and denFull-motion arm with real extensionUnder-rating the arm, or anchoring an extended arm into a single member.
Corner placement in an older denArticulating arm set to clear both walls through its full swingNot testing the swing before the cable is dressed, so the arm binds on a return wall.
Commercial display in a public roomFixed mount with security hardware and no user-adjustable partsLeaving a consumer bracket where the public can reach it.

If the hardware supplied for a job is wrong for the room, the correct move is to stop and report it. Fitting a bracket you know is unsuitable makes the outcome yours.

The two questions a customer never asks and always should

How high is too high

Homes in this ZIP are full of tall chimney breasts, and a request to put the screen at the top of one is common. The technician’s job is to raise the trade-off before the bracket goes up: what the neck feels like after a two-hour film, whether a tilt recovers enough of the angle, and whether a lower position on the adjacent wall would serve the room better. The customer decides. You make sure they decide with the facts.

What the firebox does to the equipment

A working wood-burning firebox puts heat and particulate up the face of the wall above it. That matters for the display, for anything stored in a recess below it, and for the cable you are about to conceal. Check for a mantel projection, check whether the flue is still in use, and note what you found on the order. Where heat exposure looks genuinely unsuitable, say so on site rather than mounting and hoping.

Neither of these conversations takes long, and both are the difference between a satisfied customer and a job we revisit.

Truck stock that a retrofit ZIP actually demands

Working in finished thirty-year-old houses means you carry more than a drill. The list below is what technicians on this board find they need in practice.

  • A hammer drill with masonry bits that are not worn out. Brick and mortar work appears constantly here, and a tired bit is how a mortar joint turns into a crater.
  • Fastener variety. Wood lags, masonry sleeves, toggles for the hollow surprises, and hardware for light-gauge steel in the commercial suites.
  • A proper fishing kit. Glow rods, magnet set and a flexible bit for the drops that older framing makes awkward.
  • Cable in several lengths, plus surge protection. The existing run is almost always short once a bigger panel goes up.
  • Wall repair basics. Compound, a knife and touch-up caps, because you will inherit holes that are not yours.
  • Floor and furniture protection. Non-negotiable in an occupied home with existing flooring.
Presentation counts here. These are family homes people have lived in for years. Shoe covers, a tidy work area and a van that does not look like a skip get technicians requested by name.

Getting onto the 77429 call list

EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor with more than twenty years in this market and a five-star rating, and the technicians we route work to are held to that standard. Before a first dispatch we need general liability cover in your own business name, a W-9, cleared background screening and a vehicle you can carry ladders and stock in.

After that it is a conversation, not an application form. Call (832) 359-2425 or write through the contact page and tell us what you have hung, what size you are comfortable with alone, whether you have done commercial work, and which days are genuinely yours. Pay is a conversation at interview, weighed against the scope you take and the experience you bring, and we keep figures off a web page because the work varies far too much for a published number to mean anything.

Work is routed across Cypress, Houston, Katy, Richmond, Sugar Land and Fulshear from one board, so a technician based here is rarely limited to a single ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

A lot of these jobs are replacing somebody else’s bad install. Is that normal?
It is the bulk of the residential work in 77429. Expect to find oversized holes, a bracket rated below the new display, and cable that stops six inches short. You are not expected to rebuild a wall, but you are expected to leave the finished job looking deliberate rather than patched.
Do you supply the mounts, or does the customer?
Both happen. Sometimes the customer already bought hardware, sometimes the order specifies what we are supplying. Either way the technician checks the rating against the actual display before it is fitted, and reports a mismatch rather than working around it.
I have never done commercial displays. Can I still get on the board?
Yes, and plenty of technicians start residential-only. Commercial work gets offered once we have seen your close-out photos and know how you present in front of a customer. Say at interview that you want to grow into it and we will route you that way.
Are the commercial appointments early or late?
Frequently. A restaurant or gym along FM 1960 usually wants the work done outside trading hours, so before-open and after-close windows are part of the picture. Technicians who can take those slots see more of that work.
What if I find something unexpected inside the wall?
Stop and call it in. Older construction in this area has been modified over the years, and cavities contain things nobody documented. We would rather lose twenty minutes on a phone call than pay for a repair, and no technician has ever lost standing here for making that call.
Is there enough replacement work to keep someone busy year-round?
Cypress is one of the densest parts of the territory and display replacement does not have a season the way outdoor work does. Volume still moves around, so we talk honestly at interview about what your week is likely to look like rather than promising a number.
Do I need to run network cable as well?
Not to start. It is a genuine advantage, because a technician who can terminate a data drop while the wall is open is more useful on a mixed scope, and that capability opens up the cabling side of the business to you over time.

Good with hardware choices and finished rooms?

That is the technician eastern Cypress needs. Ring (832) 359-2425 or use the contact form and tell us what you have hung and what you carry.
