TV Installation Subcontractor Work in Houston, TX 77018

Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, Shepherd Park Plaza and Candlelight Plaza are in a permanent state of renovation, and a large share of the display work EVOTECH IT LLC places in 77018 arrives attached to somebody’s remodel. That changes what an installation order is: half of it is rough-in nobody will ever see, and half of it is finish work the owner will stare at every evening.

The four kinds of order that come off this board

Knowing which of these you are walking into decides your tools, your time and whether you need a second pair of hands. The order will say; read it.

Order typeWhat it actually involvesWhat you must arrive with
Finish install, occupied housePanel, mount, concealed drop, sources connected and tested in a furnished roomDust control, floor protection, fishing kit, patch and paint-ready finish
Rough-in during a remodelBacking, conduit or smurf sleeve, low-voltage boxes and pulls set before drywall closesBlocking material, stringing skills, labeling, a plan you can hand back to the office
Outdoor or detached structureCovered patio, garage gym, workshop or garage apartment displayWeather-rated approach, exterior sealing ability, proper anchors for masonry
Multi-room or equipmentSeveral displays fed from one location, small rack or closet tidy-upCable management discipline, labeling, patience with an existing mess

Most subcontractors are strong at one or two of these. We would far rather know which than discover it on a Tuesday. Tell us at the interview and the board is filtered accordingly.

Rough-in and finish are two different visits with two different rules

When a house in this ZIP code is opened up — and a great many of them are, whether it is a kitchen wall coming out or a full second story going on — the correct moment to solve the display is while the framing is exposed. That visit is not glamorous. You are setting solid backing where the mount will land, putting in a sleeve so future cable can be pulled without cutting anything, placing the low-voltage boxes and the power provision at the right heights, and labeling it so the finish visit is straightforward.

The discipline that matters on a rough-in is documentation. Photograph the wall before it is closed, with a tape in the shot for reference, and note the heights. Six weeks later somebody is looking for a sleeve behind fresh paint, and a photograph is the difference between a ten-minute find and a hole in a new wall.

You will also be one trade among several. Cabinet fitters, painters, flooring crews and the general contractor are all working to a sequence. Arrive when the schedule says, protect what is already finished, keep your offcuts and dust contained, and take direction changes through our office rather than agreeing them on site. If a framer has cut your blocking out to fit something else, that is a phone call, not a fight in the driveway.

The finish visit then happens in a house somebody has moved back into, with new floors and new paint, and the standard is correspondingly higher.

Patios, detached garages and the long back lots

Lots in Garden Oaks in particular run deep, with mature trees and a good deal of outbuilding — detached garages, converted workshops, garage apartments, covered patios that have been built out into proper outdoor rooms. A meaningful slice of the orders here are not in the house at all.

Two things govern this work. First, the display has to be right for the position: a covered patio in this climate still sees humidity, wind-driven rain, pollen and heat, and an indoor panel in that setting is a warranty claim in waiting. Second, the path has to be right. Getting signal and power from the house to a detached structure is not a matter of running a lead across the grass. That gets handled properly, coordinated through the office, with anything touching line voltage kept on the licensed side of the company.

Post-war houses on this route are slab-on-grade with low-slope hip roofs, which means the easy overhead route is often not available and the run has to be solved inside a wall or along an exterior face with a properly sealed penetration. Bring the ability to drill and seal masonry cleanly, and the judgment to know when an exterior route is going to look like an exterior route.

What a finished ticket looks like when it reaches the office

An order is complete when four things are true. The work is physically finished and level. Every source the customer owns has been connected, selected and seen working by them — including the soundbar, if there is one. The site is clean, the packaging is dealt with as agreed, and nothing has been left in the customer’s bin without asking. And the documentation is in: photographs of the finished work, any rough-in reference shots, notes on anything unusual, and your invoice against the order.

Say the difficult thing on site, not afterwards. If the wall would not take what was requested, if the existing cable turned out to be damaged, if the customer asked for something outside the order — it belongs in the notes and on a call, that day. Surprises discovered a week later cost far more than the honest conversation would have.

Damage is handled the same way. It happens occasionally in every trade. What is not acceptable is a subcontractor who leaves it for the customer to discover. Photograph it, report it immediately, and let it be resolved properly through insurance and the office.

What we need on file, and how to put yourself forward

This is 1099 contract work for established independent installers. Before an address is released to you we hold a current general liability certificate, commercial auto coverage suited to your operation, a completed W-9 and a signed agreement covering standards and responsibility. Any helper on site works under your policy. Line-voltage work stays with the licensed side of EVOTECH IT LLC, which has been a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor across Houston, Katy, Cypress and Sugar Land since 2004.

To put yourself forward, call (832) 359-2425 and ask to speak about contract installation work, or start on the contact page. Be ready to describe a rough-in you have set, how you handle an occupied house with new floors, what you own for masonry and for fishing walls, and which days are genuinely yours.

Pay is agreed at the interview, against the scope you will be running and the record you bring to it. We do not post rates on a web page, and no installer is asked to work to a figure they did not agree to first.

Frequently asked questions

I can do rough-in and finish. Would I get both halves of the same project?
Where your availability lines up with the builder’s schedule, yes, and it is the better outcome for everyone. The installer who set the backing and the sleeve knows exactly where they are. Tell us if remodel-phase work is something you want more of.
Does a covered patio really need an outdoor-rated display?
Yes, on our orders. Cover keeps direct rain off; it does not keep out humidity, blowing rain, pollen or the temperature swing. An indoor panel out there fails and it is not covered when it does. If a customer pushes back, let the office have the conversation.
If another trade damages my cable run after I have left, whose problem is it?
Not yours, provided you documented the work. This is precisely why rough-in photographs with a tape in the shot are required rather than encouraged. With photographs it is a straightforward repair attributed correctly; without them it becomes an argument nobody wins.
Do orders include detached garages, workshops and garage apartments?
Regularly on this route — the lots here are deep and a lot of the outbuildings have been converted into living or working space. Those tickets need the exterior and weather-rating competence described above, so say at the interview whether you have it.
What is genuinely needed on a slab house with no usable attic above the room?
A realistic fishing kit rather than a coat hanger: flexible rods, a good magnet set, a quality stud finder you actually trust, a compact cutting tool, and patch material so any opening you make is left ready for paint. On this route the overhead shortcut is frequently unavailable and the wall is the only route there is.
How quickly after applying could I be running work?
As soon as the interview is done and your certificate, W-9 and agreement are on file. The first orders are deliberately a small number so we can see the standard in practice; volume follows from how those close out, not from how the conversation went.
