Installer recruitment — Houston 77055

TV Hanging Technician Jobs in Houston 77055 — Spring Branch East & Spring Valley

We are adding display and TV hanging technicians to the Spring Branch East rotation. This is a requirements-first page: what you should already be able to do, what the three-storey new-build stock demands of an installer, and exactly what happens after you get in touch.

Who We’re Looking For in 77055

The short version: a careful finisher who owns tools, carries coverage, and can be trusted alone inside a house that cost a great deal of money.

Spring Branch East has spent fifteen years rebuilding itself. Blocks that were once uniform single-storey brick now alternate between an original 1950s house and a pair of three-storey attached townhomes squeezed onto the same lot line. Just beside that, Spring Valley Village, Hilshire Village and the edge of Hedwig hold larger custom homes with finishes that punish careless work.

Two very different customer populations, one shared expectation: the wall goes back looking untouched.

We are interested in installers who

  • have hung displays across several substrates rather than wood stud alone
  • can route a clean in-wall cable path and terminate it with proper low-voltage plates
  • arrive in a presentable vehicle, presentably dressed
  • document well enough to prove the work and leave a legible note
  • are willing to say “I don’t do that” instead of improvising on somebody’s stone hearth

Three-Storey Townhomes Change the Whole Job

The infill product that dominates this ZIP is a narrow attached townhome — garage at ground level, living space on the second floor, bedrooms above. Nearly every element of that layout changes how you mount.

The great-room wall is tall

Second-floor living rooms in these builds frequently carry a double-height wall rising past the stair opening. Working it means a stable ladder footing on a landing, sometimes a small scaffold, and a height conversation before anything is drilled — the builder’s block-out is very often placed higher than a seated viewer will tolerate.

The framing is engineered

Expect laminated studs, occasional steel where a shear panel lands, and spacing that stops being reliable near openings. Expect rated assemblies on the wall shared with the neighbouring unit; those are not walls to improvise on, and a wrong penetration there is a defect rather than a cosmetic slip.

Pre-wire exists — just not where the furniture went

Builders leave a recessed box and a conduit stub on one chosen wall. Half the time the owner has arranged the room against a different one. Being able to pull a fresh run from an attic or a chase, and to recognise when no legal path exists, is most of the value you bring to this territory.

Local detail worth knowing: several small incorporated villages sit in and around this ZIP, and they run their own municipal rules. They are noticeably stricter than the City of Houston about noise, parking and contractor conduct. Blocking a neighbour’s driveway with a work van is precisely the small mistake that produces a phone call to our office.

The Skill Checklist We Walk Through at Interview

SkillWhat a “yes” looks like
Reading the substrateYou can tell drywall over wood from drywall over steel from veneer over a hollow chase, and you pick an anchor to match
Height and geometryYou set centre height for the seating position rather than for the wall, and can justify the trade-off in a sentence
In-wall cableYou can fish a storey, work glow rods, fit low-voltage brackets, and explain why in-wall rated cable matters
Full-motion mountsYou account for the arm’s extended load, not just its static weight
Soundbars and componentsYou can hang a bar dead level beneath a screen and hide the run behind it
PatchingA probe hole or a mis-drill gets patched and left clean, not blamed on whoever came before
DocumentationPhotographs before, after, and of anything unusual found inside the wall

Nobody is expected to tick every line at full strength. We would simply rather hear where you are honestly weaker, so you are never dispatched into a job that embarrasses both of us.

Where This Work Leads If You Want More Than Brackets

Display mounting is the front door. EVOTECH IT LLC is a low-voltage contractor, and the same houses that want a screen hung also need structured cabling, access points placed sensibly across three storeys of framing, camera coverage, doorbell and intercom work, and rack tidy-ups nobody else wants to touch.

Technicians who prove out on mounting and show an appetite for cabling tend to get pulled into bigger scopes: a whole-home data drop package during a remodel, an office suite, camera coverage across a small commercial property. If your ambition is to build a low-voltage trade rather than to hang brackets forever, say that in the first conversation so we can route you accordingly.

How We Expect You to Behave Inside Someone’s House

  • Shoe covers on hard floors and a cloth beneath every drill point, every single time.
  • Ask before moving furniture or electronics, and photograph anything already damaged before you touch it.
  • No smoking, no music through a speaker, no personal calls indoors.
  • Describe what you are about to drill before drilling it, and wait for the yes.
  • Leave the room cleaner than you found it. Vacuuming is part of the job, not a favour.
  • Never discuss pricing, discounts or another customer’s project at the door — money questions go to the office.

These streets talk to each other. An installer who leaves one townhome spotless regularly generates the next three calls on the same block. The company’s 5.0-star rating was built exactly that way, and it is protected the same way.

Scope, Terms and What Gets Settled at Interview

The interview covers engagement type, territory, how tickets are offered and accepted, who supplies mounts and hardware on which job types, what happens when a customer calls back, and which documents must be on file before a first dispatch.

What you earn is settled in that same conversation, shaped by the scope you take on and the experience behind you. That is not evasiveness. A plain bracket on a wood-stud wall and a double-height masonry install with a two-storey cable pull are not the same work, and pretending they carry the same number would be dishonest.

Start the Conversation

Phone (832) 359-2425 during business hours, or use the contact form and put the word “technician” in the message. Include your experience, your coverage position, your tool list and the days you want to work.

If you have photographs of your own finished installations — particularly cable-free walls and masonry anchoring — send those too. They tell us more in ten seconds than a résumé does in ten minutes.

Frequently asked questions

I have hung plenty of TVs but never fished cable inside a wall. Does that rule me out?
No, provided you say so up front. Straightforward bracket work exists in volume, and plenty of good installers started exactly there. Cable ability simply widens what we can offer you, and it is a skill most people pick up quickly once they have watched a storey get fished properly a couple of times.
Who supplies the mount, the hardware and the in-wall cable?
It depends on the job type, and it is agreed before you are dispatched rather than improvised in a driveway. You should carry your own consumables — anchors, bits, ties, patch compound — but you should not be funding a customer’s project out of your own pocket.
What does the interview actually consist of?
A direct conversation about your background, a look at your own installation photographs, and the document side — coverage, identification, vehicle. Depending on experience it can also include working alongside one of our technicians on a real job, which tells us far more than any question would.
Can I take evening and weekend calls only?
Yes, and it is a useful availability to have. A significant share of residential mounting lands after five o’clock and on Saturday because that is when households are home. What matters is that the availability you give us is fixed enough to schedule against.
Do you work from builder punch lists on the new townhomes going up here?
Most of our work in this ZIP arrives from homeowners after move-in rather than from a builder’s list. What that means practically is that you will be interacting with somebody else’s pre-wire constantly, so being able to test an existing conduit stub and decide whether it is usable is a daily skill here.

Think You Fit the Spring Branch East Crew?
