TV Installation Subcontractor Work in Houston 77082
Two different boards run out of this ZIP code, and they run at different hours. Daytime brings houses off Briar Forest and the gated sections around them; after five the orders come from leased office suites on the Westchase edge. EVOTECH IT LLC contracts both to independent installers.
One ZIP code, two schedules, two sets of manners
Most territories on our map have a single rhythm. 77082 has two, and an installer who only wants one of them should say so early rather than discover it on a Tuesday evening.
The daytime board is residential: houses and townhomes through the Briar Forest and Dairy Ashford grid, the gated enclaves that sit behind them, and the patio-home sections built out in the 1980s. Standard hours, family present, shoes off, dust sheet down.
The evening board is commercial. The office parks on the eastern edge of this ZIP, running toward the Westchase district, are full of leased suites — engineering firms, energy services companies, medical and back-office tenants — and almost none of them will let a drill run while their people are at desks. Those orders land between five and ten at night, or on a Saturday, with a building engineer and a badge involved.
Worth knowing up front: the two boards ask for different personalities. The house wants patience and tidiness. The suite wants documentation, punctuality and someone who can talk to a facilities manager without needing a supervisor on the phone.
What a leased-suite installation expects from you
A commercial ticket in a multi-tenant building is not a big living room. The differences show up in the first ten minutes.
The wall is usually steel stud, often with a rated assembly between suites, and the correct anchor for a heavy display in that construction is not a lag screw and hope. Ceilings are suspended grid, which means nothing above the tile carries load and cable has to be supported off the structure rather than laid on the grid wires. Power frequently arrives from a floor box or a dedicated circuit rather than a convenient receptacle, and in-wall cable between a credenza and a display needs to be the right rated type for the cavity it passes through.
The orders themselves skew to conference rooms, huddle rooms, reception walls and training rooms: a display that has to be dead centre on a wall people photograph, at a height that works for a seated table rather than a sofa, with the cable landing exactly where the table grommet is. Two or three identical rooms on one floor is common, and the client will compare them side by side, so a measurement written once and repeated beats eyeballing each room.
Sound is usually not a soundbar here — it is a conferencing bar or a room system the client already owns, and your job is a clean mount, a reachable cable path and a working input, not a rewrite of their meeting platform.
The residential side behind the gates
Southwest of Westheimer this ZIP holds golf-course frontage, gated custom homes and a long band of patio-home and townhome sections built in the 1980s. It is a wealthier, quieter residential picture than the arterials suggest, and the standard of finish expected is correspondingly higher.
Practically, that means large-format panels in rooms with higher ceilings, mounts that have to sit at a height an interior decision has already fixed, and surfaces that are not always drywall — stone and cast-stone fireplace surrounds, tile, and the odd plaster return. It also means the house is often furnished to a standard where your floor protection, your drop cloth and your dust control are noticed before your bracket is.
Access is its own small skill. Manned or coded entries, a visitor list your name has to be on, association rules about where a work vehicle parks and for how long, and townhome rows where the nearest legal parking is not the nearest door. Ten minutes of planning before you leave the previous stop is worth more than speed on the freeway.
The patio-home sections are worth a specific mention: shared walls, narrow lots, and interiors where the only sensible cable path runs vertically rather than across, because the wall you want to cross is not entirely yours.
The certificate, the badge and the vendor packet
This is the point where applicants most often stall, so it is stated plainly. Working the evening board means a property manager will want paperwork before you are allowed through the lobby.
- Your own general liability certificate, current, naming EVOTECH IT LLC as certificate holder. Buildings frequently require an additional-insured endorsement in the building owner’s name as well; that comes from your agent, and it is not instant, so start it before you need it.
- A W-9, because you invoice as an independent business.
- Photo identification for the badge desk, and in some buildings a short vendor registration you complete yourself.
- Loading dock and freight booking, arranged in advance by whoever holds the tenant relationship — but you are the one who has to arrive inside the booked window.
Our own licensing and insurance sit behind the contract as the contractor of record. That cover stops at the edge of our business and does not reach across yours, which is precisely why yours is asked for. What you are paid per assignment comes out of the interview conversation, and it tracks the scope in front of you and the experience behind you.
Ask about the 77082 installation board
Call (832) 359-2425 or use the contact form and say which board you want: daytime residential, evening commercial, or both. Being honest about that is useful information, not a mark against you.
The conversation covers your installation history, whether you have worked in occupied commercial buildings before, your insurance position, your vehicle, and whether you work alone or with a regular second person. Bring photographs of finished work if you have them — a clean conference-room wall says more in ten seconds than a paragraph of description.
If evening commercial is where you want to be, say so clearly. That half of the board is the harder half to staff and the easier half to build a steady week out of.

Frequently asked questions
Do the office tickets genuinely run after hours, and how late?
Most of them, yes. Tenants will not have a hammer drill running next to a desk, so the window usually opens once the floor clears and can run into the evening, or lands on a weekend day. Buildings often set an end time for noisy work, and you are told that limit with the assignment so you can judge whether the scope fits it.
The conference room has glass on two sides and the only solid wall is behind the credenza. What are my options?
Say it out loud before anything is drilled. Usually the answer is the solid wall with the display centred on the table rather than the room, sometimes it is a floor-supported or credenza-mounted stand, and occasionally the client changes rooms. What is not an option is anchoring a heavy panel to a glass partition frame or a demountable wall that was never designed to carry it.
A building requires an escort for vendors. Does that time count?
The escort requirement is known before you are dispatched and is factored into how the assignment is scoped and discussed. What matters on your side is arriving at the booked time with the certificate already accepted, because an escort who has waited twenty minutes usually becomes an escort who is no longer available.
Does commercial work need different cable than a house?
Often, yes. Cable passing through a plenum space or a rated assembly has to be the appropriate rated type, and terminations in a commercial space are expected to be supported and dressed rather than draped. If the scope is unclear about what a particular run passes through, ask before you pull it — replacing the wrong cable after a ceiling is closed is nobody’s good day.
I only do residential. Will I be pushed into office work?
No. The two boards are staffed separately on purpose. Say at interview that you want daytime residential and that is what you will be offered. The only thing worth knowing is that residential alone in one ZIP code is a lighter week than residential plus evenings, so most people who want volume end up taking both or working a second territory.
How difficult are the gated sections to get into for a scheduled visit?
Straightforward when the customer has done their part and irritating when they have not. The address you receive includes whatever entry information the customer gave us. If the gate will not open, you call the customer first and the office second rather than tailgating a resident through, which is a fast way to have an association ask that a vendor not come back.
Insured, presentable and free in the evenings?
Tell us which board suits you and what you have installed in occupied buildings. Scope and compensation are agreed in that conversation, depending on the work and your experience.
