TV Mounting Installer Jobs in Cypress, TX 77429

77429 is established Cypress: mature subdivisions, brick veneer, two-story family homes and a great many masonry fireplaces. EVOTECH IT LLC is interviewing experienced display installers and residential AV subs who can handle those walls without leaving a mess behind.

The installer we’re actually short of in 77429

Plenty of people can put a bracket on drywall. Far fewer can core a clean path through a brick chimney chase, land a recessed outlet behind a panel, and leave a twenty-year-old living room looking untouched. The second kind of installer is the one we are interviewing for here.

Concretely, the profile that earns steady offers on this side of Cypress looks like this:

  • Three or more seasons of genuine field mounting, not a weekend hobby
  • Real comfort with masonry — brick, cultured stone, and the mortar joints that decide whether an anchor holds
  • Fluency with concealed cable: in-wall rated HDMI, recessed power kits, wall plates, and the wall-fishing that makes them disappear
  • A calm manner in an occupied house, because these are family homes with school-run schedules and dogs
  • Enough electrical literacy to know exactly where your scope stops and a licensed electrician’s begins

You do not need to be a network technician. You do need to be someone a homeowner is glad to have in the living room, and someone whose finished work a second installer would not want to redo.

Inside the subdivisions: what 77429 homes are built from

This ZIP is largely the earlier wave of Cypress growth — neighborhoods laid out from roughly the 1980s through the 2000s around the Grant Road, Jones Road, Huffmeister, Telge and Louetta corridors, with mature pines and live oaks over the streets. That vintage produces a recognizable set of mounting problems.

What you’ll be drilling into

  • Brick veneer over wood framing. Interior walls are straightforward; anything on an exterior wall means understanding what is behind the veneer before you commit.
  • Full-height masonry fireplaces. Above-fireplace requests are constant in these homes. Masonry bits, the right sleeve anchors and honest advice about viewing height are all part of the job.
  • Upstairs game rooms and bonus rooms over the garage. Frequently the second or third screen in the house, often with an awkward cable path and a knee wall in the way.
  • Generous attics. Unlike newer construction, these attics usually give you room to work — which also means attic runs are expected rather than excused. In July that attic will be brutal, and you should plan water and timing around it.

What the customer usually wants

Articulating arms so a screen can swing toward a kitchen, full-motion mounts above a mantel, soundbar brackets, and cable concealment that survives a resale inspection. Requests to relocate an outlet or add a circuit get referred out to a licensed electrician — we do not have subs freelance on line voltage.

What a Tuesday on the Cypress board looks like

A realistic weekday for a sub working this area is two to four stops, clustered so the drive between them is short. A plausible board:

SlotJobWhat usually eats the time
MorningFull-motion mount over a brick fireplace, concealed run to a cabinet belowMasonry drilling and getting the height right with the homeowner before anything is permanent
MiddayBedroom or game-room mount, fixed bracket, in-wall cableFishing past a fire block and patching cleanly
AfternoonTwo screens in one house — living room plus covered patioWeather-rated hardware outside and a second power source
LateService visit: an earlier mount that needs re-levelling or a cable swapDiagnosis, not installation — and a customer who wants to be heard

Appointment windows are windows, not moments. You are expected to call ahead when you are running early or late; a customer who hears from you is patient, and a customer who does not becomes a complaint.

The workmanship bar, in plain language

There is no long rulebook. There is one test: could a homeowner take a photograph of your finished work and post it without embarrassment?

  • Level checked on the mount, not just on the bracket, with the screen in its resting position
  • Anchors matched to the substrate, torqued to spec and never over-driven into masonry
  • Cable either concealed or in raceway that was cut, mitered and painted — never stapled along a baseboard
  • Drilling debris vacuumed as you go, not swept into the rug
  • Furniture returned exactly where you found it and boxes carried out to your own vehicle
  • Remote paired, source tested, picture confirmed on screen before you leave
The single fastest way to lose a place on the board is to leave a customer to discover a problem after you have gone. If something went sideways — a chipped tile, a hole in the wrong spot, a bracket that will not fit — tell the homeowner and tell the office the same day. Mistakes are survivable; hidden ones are not.

Insurance, background and the paperwork side

Our licence, our insurance and our 5.0-star rating are the reason customers open the door to a stranger, and two decades of Houston-area work went into building that. The administrative side of onboarding exists to protect it.

  1. Business identity. Subcontractors work as their own business entity, with a W-9 on file.
  2. General liability certificate. Current, in your business name, provided before your first dispatch.
  3. Background screening. Required, because residential work means unsupervised access to occupied homes.
  4. Vehicle and driving record. You will be driving between appointments all day.
  5. Written scope agreement. Every dispatch is defined in writing before you accept it, so there is no argument later about what the job included.

Bring your own trade credentials to the table too. A Texas low-voltage registration, an apprentice card, or manufacturer training on mounts and displays all matter when we decide which work to route where.

Where mounting work leads if you want more of it

Mounting is the door, not the whole house. The trucks that hang screens in Cypress are the same trucks doing structured cabling, camera installation, access control and WiFi work across the same neighborhoods, and subs who show they can terminate cleanly and document a run get offered that work first.

If you already have any of the following, say so early — it changes the conversation:

  • Cat6 termination, keystone and patch-panel experience
  • Camera aiming, NVR set-up and cable-path planning
  • Rack build-out, labeling and clean dress-out
  • Commercial ceiling work, conduit, or J-hook pathway experience

None of it is required for mounting work. All of it widens what we can send you.

Getting yourself on the call list

Ring (832) 359-2425 and tell whoever answers that you are an installer looking for mounting work in Cypress, or reach us through the contact form with the same information.

We will want to know your trade history, your insurance status, your coverage radius from 77429 and what days you can genuinely commit to. Photographs of previous installs carry more weight than anything you can write in a paragraph, so bring them.

Pay is covered during the interview, and it reflects both the difficulty of the work you accept and what you already know how to do. We will not advertise a figure that would be wrong for half the jobs on the board.

Frequently asked questions

Are most 77429 jobs above a fireplace?
Not most, but a large share — the housing stock in this part of Cypress was built in an era when the fireplace was the natural focal point of the family room, so above-mantel requests come up far more often here than in newer construction. If masonry anchoring and honest conversations about viewing height are outside your comfort zone, this particular ZIP will be a frustrating one for you.
Can I bring a helper with me?
Yes, and for large-panel work we prefer it. Your helper is your responsibility: you arrange them, you cover them, and they meet the same conduct and appearance expectations you do. Tell the office in advance so the customer is not surprised by a second person at the door.
Do you dispatch evening and weekend appointments in Cypress?
Regularly. These are family households where both adults often work, so late-afternoon, evening and Saturday slots are in demand and are the hardest to staff. Subs who can reliably take those windows tend to see the most offers.
What if the customer asks me to add an electrical outlet behind the screen?
You stop and refer it. Recessed low-voltage plates and code-compliant in-wall power kits designed for the purpose are inside scope; adding or relocating a branch circuit is not, and it goes to a licensed electrician through the office. Nobody working under our name improvises on line voltage.
I mount televisions but I have never pulled network cable. Is that a problem?
No. Mounting competence is what we are assessing for mounting work, and cabling experience is a bonus rather than a gate. If you want to move toward cabling and camera work later, tell us and we will factor it into which jobs you get offered as you build a track record.
How quickly could I start after the interview?
That depends on how fast your paperwork clears — insurance certificate, W-9 and background screening are the usual bottleneck, not our side of it. Have those in hand when you call and the process moves considerably faster.
