TV Installation Subcontractor Work in Katy, TX 77450

77450 is settled Katy — Cinco Ranch, Kelliwood, Nottingham Country, Memorial Parkway. Almost every ticket out here lands in a finished, furnished, occupied house where somebody else already mounted something on that wall once. We hand this territory to independent installers who can work clean around a family and correct another man’s shortcuts without leaving a trace.

The defining feature of this route: somebody lives there

There is a version of this trade that happens in an empty room with a clean floor and nobody watching. That is not 77450. Out here the sofa is in the way, the dog is anxious, a toddler naps upstairs until three, and the wall you are about to open has been painted twice since the house was finished.

Everything about the way you work changes because of it, and this is the part we screen hardest for:

  • Floor covering goes down before the first tool comes out of the bag, and it covers the path you walk as well as the work zone.
  • Dust gets caught at the hole, not swept up afterwards. A vacuum held at the bit is the whole difference.
  • Furniture that has to move is moved with the homeowner watching and put back exactly where it was.
  • Noise gets negotiated. Ask about nap times, a spouse on calls, a night-shift worker asleep down the hall — then plan the loud ten minutes around them.
  • You explain what you are about to do before you do it, in normal language, without making the customer feel stupid.
The blunt version: a technically perfect mount in a house left dusty scores worse with us than a straightforward mount in a house left spotless. The workmanship is expected. The care is what gets you a second week.

Undoing somebody else’s install

These subdivisions were built out roughly between the early eighties and the mid-2000s, so the flat-panel era arrived after the houses did. Most walls you touch have a history, and reading it is a large part of the skill.

What turns up behind the old plate:

  • A bracket lagged into drywall with plastic anchors, still holding a 55-inch panel purely out of habit, which the family now wants to carry an 85.
  • An extension cord run inside the wall cavity, which is not legal, not safe, and has to come out and be replaced with a listed in-wall power kit.
  • Coax and component cable abandoned in the bay, sometimes stapled through, sometimes still live at the other end.
  • A hole cut oversized for a plate that was never fitted, hidden behind the panel for six years.
  • Lag holes in brick or stone that cannot simply be re-used at a new height.

Removing and making good is part of the ticket, not an extra. That means patching, sanding, and being honest when a patch will need paint the customer has to supply. It also means telling us — not the customer — the moment you find something that has to be corrected rather than covered, because that changes the quote and the quote is our job.

Three framing generations in one week

You will meet several distinct construction eras inside this ZIP, sometimes on the same street.

The older streets

Brick veneer, wood framing, modest ceiling heights, and real masonry fireplaces with a firebox behind the face. Anchors belong in solid brick, never in a crumbling joint, and every bit of dust you create is yours to contain.

The late-nineties and 2000s sections

Two-story living spaces, engineered lumber, and manufactured stone laid over backer board on a built-out chase. The face can be an inch and a half of veneer with air behind it. A bolt that stops inside that facing has not fixed anything, and a heavy panel will eventually prove it.

Additions and remodels

A surprising share of these homes have had a wall moved, a patio enclosed or a game room added. Framing centers stop being predictable at the seam, and the safest habit is a small confirmation hole rather than confidence.

Attics

Nearly all of these houses have a workable attic, which is usually the tidiest route for a long run: up, across, back down. It is also punishing by mid-morning for most of the year, so attic legs belong in the first call of the day, not the last.

What the work orders actually say

A representative week on this route:

TicketThe part that catches people out
Upsize an existing panel on an existing plateThe old hardware is almost never rated for the new weight, and the old holes rarely line up with the new pattern.
Full-motion arm over a masonry fireplaceClearance at full extension with the mantel in place, and heat above a working firebox.
Conceal everything on a two-story feature wallFire blocking mid-cavity, and a run that has to reach a cabinet that is not below the panel.
Covered patio displayWeather-rated hardware, a sealed penetration, and somewhere the equipment can live indoors.
Upstairs game room with the gear in a closetGetting signal and control to a rack the customer never wants to look at again.
Relocate a panel to a different wall entirelyTwo walls to make good, and a power question that may need an electrician.

If the ticket cannot be completed the way it is written, you stop and telephone us. Scope is not renegotiated on a driveway, and no price is ever discussed inside the house.

Getting through the front gate and onto the driveway

A meaningful share of this ZIP sits inside managed communities, and access is a scheduling problem rather than an afterthought. Several sections require the homeowner to add a visiting contractor at the gate or call them through in person. That gets resolved on the confirmation contact the day before, not at the callbox with a customer waiting.

Two more local realities worth knowing before you accept a window:

  • Park on the driveway you are working at. Street parking that blocks a neighbor generates a complaint, and the complaint reaches us rather than you.
  • Deed-restricted neighborhoods care about appearance. A clean vehicle, closed doors and tools kept off the grass is not fussiness here, it is the difference between a welcome and a phone call.

What has to be true before you take a ticket

This is independent subcontract work. You run your own business, set your own availability and invoice for what you complete. What we verify before the first dispatch:

  • General liability cover in your business name, with a current certificate naming EVOTECH IT LLC.
  • Business-use insurance on the vehicle you actually work out of.
  • A signed W-9 and photo identification.
  • Consent to a background check, because you are being let into family homes.
  • Our tickets are not passed along to anybody else. Whoever cleared intake is whoever knocks on the door.

EVOTECH IT LLC is a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor. The moment a ticket moves past the bracket into pulling or terminating cable, it is being performed under that license and built to our specification, not to personal preference.

What you earn is settled face to face at interview, weighted by the kind of work you can take on and how long you have been doing it. No figure appears on this page, because a bedroom mount and a concealed two-story install are not the same job and pretending otherwise on a web page would be dishonest.

Applying for the 77450 route

Call (832) 359-2425 and say you are applying as an installer, or send the same detail through the contact page so it does not land in the customer queue. Six honest lines beat a formatted resume.

Tell us:

  • Where you are based and the distance you will genuinely drive on a Tuesday, not on a good day.
  • Roughly how many panels you hang in a month right now.
  • Whether you are comfortable patching and making good after removing old hardware.
  • What ladders and dust control you carry.
  • Who currently writes your liability cover, and when it renews.
  • The days you will commit to a window.

EVOTECH IT LLC has worked this part of Texas since around 2004 and holds a 5.0-star rating. The retrofit route is where that gets tested hardest, which is why we are selective about who runs it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to patch and repaint where the old mount came off?
You patch, fill and sand so the wall is ready. Color-matched paint is the homeowner’s to supply unless the ticket says otherwise. Never leave a torn edge behind a panel on the assumption nobody will look.
A lot of these homes are behind gates. How does that work?
The homeowner arranges visitor access ahead of your arrival, and confirming that is part of the contact you make the day before. Turning up at a callbox with no arrangement burns your window and theirs.
What if I open a wall and find an extension cord running inside it?
Stop, photograph it, and call us. It has to be removed and replaced with a listed in-wall power solution, and anything involving the circuit itself goes to a licensed electrician. That is a change to the job, and changes come through the office.
Is there much new construction in 77450?
Very little. This is established housing, mostly early eighties through the mid-2000s. If your experience is entirely on open framing before drywall, expect a different pace here.
Can I bring a helper into a customer’s home?
For oversized panels and anything over a fireplace, yes, and you should plan one. Tell us in advance who they are — we vet everybody who walks through a customer’s door on our ticket.
How quickly do I find out whether I am on the list?
As fast as your paperwork moves. The conversation takes a phone call; the certificate, W-9 and background check are what set the actual start date.
