Houston 77027 · Highland Village, Afton Oaks, Royden Oaks & St. George Place

TV Mounting Service in Houston, TX 77027

Half the bookings that come out of 77027 are for a family room in a 1950s house on a quiet street. The other half are for a display going up in a salon, clinic or showroom a few hundred yards away on Westheimer or Post Oak. They are not the same job, and treating them the same is how installations go wrong.

One postcode, two entirely different bookings

This ZIP packs quiet residential streets and one of the busiest retail and office corridors in the city into the same few square miles. Which side of that line you are calling from changes the hardware, the hours and the approvals long before it changes the price.

Afton Oaks and Royden Oaks: mid-century houses, twenty-first-century televisions

The original houses on these streets went up as single-storey brick homes on a concrete slab, typically with eight-foot ceilings and a fireplace wall flanked by built-in shelving. Three things follow from that description, and together they cover most of what we deal with in these rooms.

The slab removes one option and the attic restores it. There is nothing beneath the floor to run cable through, but a single-storey roof over your head is genuinely useful. A run can leave the top of the wall cavity, cross the attic, and drop wherever the equipment is going — including the opposite side of the room, which a wall-cavity-only house cannot offer.

Eight-foot ceilings punish a high mount. In a room this height, a screen pushed up near the ceiling line leaves everyone tilting their chins for the length of a film. Lower is almost always better, and where a mantel forces the issue a tilting bracket brings the picture back down towards the seating.

The built-ins are usually part of the plan. Shelving either side of a chimney breast is a natural home for the equipment, and the shortest route to it often runs behind the existing joinery rather than through it. That keeps the cabinet doors working and leaves the finish carpentry alone.

Where a lot has been rebuilt, everything changes again — taller ground-floor rooms, engineered framing, and usually a builder’s media box that sits a foot or two away from where you actually want the screen. That is an easy fix while we are there, and a much larger one later.

Displays in a salon, clinic or showroom off Post Oak

Commercial mounting looks simpler from the outside and is usually the fussier of the two. A few points decide whether it is done once or done twice.

Steel studs are not timber studs

Tenant partitions in this corridor are typically framed in light-gauge steel, which will not hold a lag screw the way a timber stud does. The correct answer is a backing plate or a channel spanning several studs so the load is spread and nothing relies on a single thin section of metal. Anyone quoting a heavy display on a steel-stud wall without mentioning backing has not looked at the wall.

Height is set by people who are standing up

A waiting-room screen, a menu board or a showroom display is read by people on their feet or in a queue, not sunk into a sofa. Mounting height gets set from that sight line, and where the screen runs in portrait the bracket and the rotation have to be specified together rather than improvised on the day.

Security and tidiness are part of the spec

  • Tamper-resistant fasteners where a screen sits within public reach
  • Media players and receivers behind a lockable panel or in a back-of-house cupboard
  • Signal and power carried out of sight, with the data side run as structured cable so a player can be swapped without opening the wall
  • Multiple screens aligned to each other on a laser line, because three displays a half-inch out from one another is the first thing a customer notices

We work around your trading hours

Drilling during business hours is nobody’s idea of good service. Early mornings, evenings and quiet weekday slots are normal for us, and if the building requires an insurance certificate or a lift booking beforehand, tell us at the estimate and it will be in place before the crew arrives.

The cheapest moment to solve this is before the drywall goes up

There is a steady stream of teardown rebuilds and gut remodels through these blocks, and the same conversation happens every time — usually a month too late.

While the framing is open, a screen position costs almost nothing to prepare: solid blocking across the studs, a recessed outlet at the right height, a conduit sleeve with a pull string in it, and a data drop back to wherever the network equipment will live. Ten minutes of coordination with the builder’s electrician, and the finished room has no visible cable and no compromise on placement.

After the board is up and the paint is on, the same outcome means opening and making good, and some positions simply become unavailable. If a build is in progress, the useful call is now rather than at handover — we will mark the wall for the carpenter and the electrician and be out of the way inside an hour.

How the estimate works, and what it depends on

Every quote here starts with a free on-site visit. For a house that is a look at the wall, the route and the equipment; for a business it is also the landlord’s rules, the trading hours and the number of screens.

What moves the figure up or down:

  • Screen count and size — a second identical display alongside the first is never a second full price
  • Wall construction, and whether backing has to be added before anything is hung
  • Cable distance, and whether the attic, a ceiling void or a cabinet run can be used
  • Whether power exists at the mounting height already
  • Out-of-hours or weekend working on a commercial site
  • Security hardware, portrait brackets or an enclosure where the setting calls for one

You get it itemised in writing, so you can see what each line is for and remove anything you would rather not do. Parking in Highland Village and along Post Oak takes a moment to sort out, so let us know at booking whether there is a garage, a loading area, or valet only out front — it saves the crew twenty minutes at the start of the day.

Frequently asked questions

Can you hang a large display on an office wall built with metal studs?
Yes, and it is routine — but not by screwing straight into the steel. We add a backing plate or a channel across several studs so the weight is carried by the wall as a whole. Tell us the screen weight at the estimate and the right backing is on the van when we come to fit it.
Our salon wants the screen mounted vertically. Is that different?
It needs a bracket rated for portrait use and confirmation that the panel itself is approved for it, since not every model is. We also check the ventilation direction, because a panel turned on its side vents differently from one hung normally.
Can the work happen after we close for the day?
That is how most of our commercial installs in this area are scheduled. Evening, early morning and weekend slots are available; we just need building access arranged and a named contact on site to hand over to at the end.
Our Afton Oaks house sits on a slab. Can the cables still be hidden?
Almost always. On a single-storey house the attic does the work the missing crawl space would have done — the cable leaves the wall at the top, crosses above the ceiling, and drops back down at the cabinet. Nothing shows, and nothing is surface-run.
We are rebuilding on our lot. What do you need from the builder?
A walk-through while the studs are still exposed. We will mark blocking positions, tell the electrician where the outlet goes, and leave a conduit path with a pull string. It is the single best-value hour on the whole project.
Do you set up the streaming boxes and the sound as well?
We mount the screen, run the cabling, connect the sources you have and confirm the picture and sound work before we leave. Where a soundbar or receiver is going in, say so at the estimate so the bracket, the cable lengths and the cabinet ventilation are all planned together.
