Design-Led Installs / Memorial Villages & the Memorial Drive Corridor

Frame-Style TV Installation in Houston, TX 77024

In the Memorial area, an art-style TV usually hangs in a room someone has already thought hard about: beside real paintings, against paneling or plaster, under deliberate lighting. The installation has to meet that standard. EVOTECH IT LLC installs frame-style TVs in 77024 houses and condominiums alongside designers and builders, treating the screen as one more object in a composed room rather than an appliance on a bracket.

Starting from the design brief, not the bracket

Custom homes across the Memorial Villages, including Piney Point, Hunters Creek, Bunker Hill and Hedwig, and the newer builds replacing mid-century ranch houses throughout 77024, often come with a designer, an architect or both. When they do, we ask for the elevation drawing of the TV wall before we quote.

Five things shape the plan more than the TV model does:

  1. The finished wall surface, and whether it is already installed or still to come.
  2. The frame finish the designer has in mind. Wood tones, white and metal-look bezels are design decisions, and the frame has to relate to the millwork and the other picture frames in the room.
  3. Nearby artwork and its hanging line, so the screen either shares a common centerline with the art or breaks from it on purpose.
  4. The lighting plan: picture lights, wall washers, recessed cans and windows, all of which the TV’s light sensor will respond to.
  5. Where the equipment can live, whether a media closet, a butler’s pantry cabinet or a millwork base, and whether the art-TV connection cable can reach it.

Paneling, plaster, stone and grasscloth: mounting by finish

Standard drywall forgives a mistake with spackle and paint. Most feature walls in this ZIP do not, so the approach changes with the surface.

  • Painted paneling and shiplap. We locate blocking or studs behind the boards, pre-drill so the wood does not split, and align the frame to the board joints so the screen does not look slightly crooked against strong horizontal or vertical lines.
  • Veneer and Venetian plaster. These surfaces are hard and brittle, and a repair rarely disappears. We score and drill with bits suited to the material and place every opening where the screen will cover it permanently.
  • Stone and limestone fireplace surrounds. Irregular faces need the bracket to bear evenly, so we check the plane, anchor into sound stone rather than joints, and allow for the frame’s depth sitting over high points.
  • Grasscloth and specialty wallcoverings. These cannot be patched invisibly, so cuts are kept small, made with a fresh blade and hidden entirely behind the screen.
  • Millwork recesses. When a cabinetmaker builds a recess around the TV, we supply exact dimensions from the model’s installation guide, the reveal needed for ventilation, and the location of the cable exit before the cabinetry is built.

Making the screen read as art: height, light and content

Height

Galleries commonly hang the center of a work around 57 to 60 inches from the floor. Comfortable seated viewing wants the center of a TV lower than that. In a formal living room used mostly for conversation, we lean toward the art line; in a family room where the TV is watched nightly, viewing height wins, and the surrounding art is arranged to suit it.

Light

A picture light above the frame strengthens the illusion, but it also raises the brightness the TV’s sensor reads. We tune art-mode brightness with the room’s lighting scenes on and off, daytime and evening, so the displayed work looks lit rather than self-luminous.

Content

The screen is 16:9, and most paintings are not. Portrait works need a digital mat, which The Frame offers in several styles, or they will be cropped. If you want to show pieces from your own collection, photograph them at high resolution under even light, crop to the ratio, and upload through the manufacturer’s app or a USB drive. Warmer color tone settings usually sit better beside real canvases than the factory default.

Condominiums and townhomes along Memorial Drive and Woodway

Multi-unit buildings in 77024 bring rules a single-family house does not:

  • Walls between units are often fire-rated assemblies. Penetrations must be firestopped, and many associations restrict drilling into them, so we prefer interior partitions for both the bracket and the cable route.
  • Concrete elements. Mid-rise structures can contain post-tensioned tendons in slabs and other concrete members. We never drill into structural concrete without building approval and scanning.
  • Logistics. Service elevator reservations, loading dock windows and a certificate of insurance on file with management are common requirements. EVOTECH is licensed and insured, and we confirm what the building needs before booking the date.
  • Townhomes. Three-story plans frequently put the living room on the second floor against a shared party wall, which again pushes the TV to an interior wall.

The quiet part: network, control and privacy

A frame-style TV is a networked computer that happens to look like a painting. As a low-voltage contractor, we treat that part as seriously as the bracket.

  • Wired connection to the connection box. A Cat6 run keeps 4K streaming steady and artwork downloads reliable, without leaning on Wi-Fi through plaster and masonry.
  • A separate network segment. When the router supports it, we put the TV on a guest or IoT network away from the computers and cameras in the house.
  • Privacy settings at setup. We walk through the viewing-data sharing and voice-assistant options with you, rather than accepting every default prompt.
  • Control of hidden equipment. If receivers and players live in a closet, we plan how the remote reaches them; if the house already has a whole-home control system, we coordinate with that integrator instead of adding a second remote.

How EVOTECH sequences a design-led install

  1. Review drawings or photos, then visit the room with you, your designer or your builder.
  2. Mock up the screen at full size with a template and a frame-color sample, at the candidate heights, so everyone agrees before a single hole.
  3. If the wall is not finished, set blocking and conduit before the finish goes on; if it is, place openings only where the screen will hide them.
  4. Protect the floors and furnishings, and capture drilling dust at the bit.
  5. Fasten the bracket into solid backing, hang the screen and seat the frame.
  6. Calibrate art mode under each lighting scene, load the artwork, and set sleep and presence behavior.
  7. Hand over a short record of the cable route and backing locations, and show you how to swap frames or take the screen down.

Why these walls are rarely DIY walls

The TV itself is not difficult to hang. The surface behind it is. One slipped bit in Venetian plaster, grasscloth or limestone can mean calling back the plasterer, the paperhanger or the mason, and waiting on their schedule. If the wall is a finished feature surface, or the connection box has to reach a closet, have it installed.

What affects the quote

Quotes are itemized and in writing, prepared after we have seen the room or the drawings. The main variables:

  • the wall finish and the care it demands;
  • coordination visits with a designer, builder or cabinetmaker;
  • a millwork recess or blocking installed before finishes;
  • condominium logistics, such as elevator reservations and insurance paperwork;
  • the distance from screen to equipment location;
  • the number of screens and rooms in the project.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work directly with our interior designer?
Yes. We prefer it. Send the elevation drawing or photos and the frame finish they have chosen, and we can meet on site to mock up the screen at full size before anything is fixed to the wall.
Can a frame TV go on grasscloth or Venetian plaster without visible damage?
Yes, if every opening is planned to sit behind the screen. We keep cuts small, use tooling suited to the surface, and confirm the mounting position with a full-size template first, because neither finish can be patched invisibly.
Our condominium requires a certificate of insurance. Can you provide one?
EVOTECH is licensed and insured. Tell us what your building’s management requires, and we will confirm the certificate and any access rules before scheduling the install.
How do I display pieces from my own collection?
Photograph them at high resolution in even, glare-free light, crop to 16:9 or apply a digital mat for portrait works, then upload through the manufacturer’s app or a USB drive. We can load the first set during installation.
Is an art-style TV a good idea in a room full of real art?
It works when the screen takes part in the arrangement: a shared hanging line with nearby pieces, a frame finish that relates to the other frames, and brightness tuned so it does not outshine the canvases. Placed randomly among real paintings, it tends to look like what it is.
