Subcontractor Openings — West Richmond

TV Installer Jobs in Richmond, TX 77406

West of Richmond the lots get long, the buildings multiply and the cable run stops being a fifteen-foot problem. EVOTECH IT LLC has openings for installers and low-voltage subcontractors who are comfortable outside the four walls of a living room.

Pecan Grove, FM 359 and the acreage west of town

77406 runs from the established streets of Pecan Grove and the subdivisions off Farm to Market 359 out to properties where the mailbox and the front door are not within shouting distance of each other. Some of it is ordinary suburban Fort Bend County. A meaningful slice of it is not.

On the suburban end you get 1980s and 1990s homes around the golf course: brick fireplaces, eight and nine foot ceilings, mature trees over the roof line and attics that were never designed for anyone to work in comfortably. Out toward the river bottom you get acreage, long private drives, detached workshops, metal buildings, covered patios and outdoor kitchens.

Windshield time is a genuine part of this route. Two stops can be a quarter of an hour apart with nothing between them but pasture, and no amount of clever scheduling changes that. What scheduling does change is whether you make that drive once or three times, which is why stops here are grouped tightly by road rather than by arrival time.

When the run is a hundred and fifty feet, not fifteen

This is the part of the trade that separates an installer from a mounter. A customer with a shop behind the house wants the same picture out there as in the den, and the honest answer is almost never a wireless one.

What we expect you to know, or to be straight about not knowing yet:

  • Cable selection. Anything leaving the conditioned envelope is exterior rated, with a jacket that will survive sun and the sprinkler system, and it is carried in conduit where anything can reach it.
  • Path discipline. Drip loops, sealed penetrations, and an eye on where water and insects will try to follow your cable back into the building. A hole through a soffit that was not sealed is a callback with wings.
  • Distance limits. Knowing where a run stops being a passive problem and needs an extender or a different topology, and saying so before the trench is open rather than after.
  • Locates. Nothing gets dug on our tickets without a call to 811 first. That is not optional and it is not a judgement call.

Scope line, stated plainly: we are a licensed and insured low-voltage contractor. Line-voltage electrical work is not yours to take on. If a shop needs a new circuit or a receptacle where there is none, that goes to a licensed electrician and the job waits.

Detached shops, barns and covered patios

A metal building has no stud cavity to fish and no drywall to patch, which sounds easy until you meet it. You are fastening to purlins or to a framed interior wall that may or may not exist, and self-tapping screws into sheet metal without a plan behind them will loosen under vibration and heat cycling.

Unconditioned buildings bring a second issue: condensation. Equipment that lives in a shop through a Gulf Coast summer and a January cold snap needs to be placed with that in mind, and the customer needs to hear about it from you rather than discover it later.

Covered patios are the other steady request. The conversation that matters is whether the display is genuinely outdoor rated and whether the mount is, because a standard indoor panel under a patio roof will survive one season and then stop being your customer’s happy memory. Say it kindly and say it early. That call comes back to the office either way, and it is far better arriving as a question than as a complaint.

Weather, the Brazos bottom and why fastening matters out here

Properties near the river bottom sit lower and wetter than the rest of Fort Bend County, and some older houses out here are raised rather than slab-on-grade. That changes routing, because a crawl space becomes a legitimate path and also a place where cable has to be supported properly rather than draped.

Fastening surfaces vary more than in any suburban ZIP we cover. Full brick, fibre-cement lap siding, stone, sheet metal and occasionally plank on an older structure. Each wants a different anchor, and using the same one everywhere is how an installer ends up back at a property on a Saturday.

Two practical realities finish the picture. Long driveways often end at a latched gate rather than a powered one, and a great many of these properties have dogs. Ask about both on the confirmation call, every single time. It costs you ten seconds and it saves the day.

What we ask for, and how to put your name forward

EVOTECH IT LLC has worked this county for more than twenty years, since around 2004, and holds a 5.0-star rating. The requirements are short and they are firm: your own general liability coverage if you are subcontracting, a reliable truck, ladders that reach a two-storey exterior wall, a hammer drill that still cuts brick, an exterior-rated stock of cable and fittings on board, a valid driver licence and consent to a background check.

Rates are agreed at the interview and scale with the scope of the ticket and what you have done before. An exterior run across an acre and a bedroom mount are not one job, so an advertised figure would only mislead you.

Two ways to start. Phone (832) 359-2425 during business hours and say the word installer, which gets you to the right desk. Or send the contact form headed INSTALLER so it is never read as a customer enquiry. Tell us what you have run outdoors, what conduit work you have done, whether you have wired a detached building before, and how far west you are willing to drive.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a licence to run cable between two buildings on a property?
You work within our scope as a licensed low-voltage contractor, so the licence question is answered at the company level. What is on you is knowing the boundary: low voltage is yours, line voltage is an electrician’s, and anything that needs digging starts with an 811 locate.
Is outdoor work really a big share of tickets out here?
Enough of it that you should not apply if you dislike being outside. Patios, detached shops and cameras on outbuildings come up regularly, alongside ordinary indoor mounting. If exterior work is new to you, say so and we will pair you into it rather than drop you into it.
How far apart are stops on this route?
Further than in a suburban ZIP. Some days you work a tight cluster in Pecan Grove and barely move; other days two tickets are a real drive apart. We sequence by road to keep that honest, and we tell you the shape of the day before you accept it.
A customer wants a normal indoor television under their patio roof. What do I do?
Explain what heat, humidity and blowing rain will do to it, offer the outdoor-rated alternative, and note the conversation on the ticket. If they still want it, that is their decision to make with the facts in hand, and the note protects everyone later.
Do I need a trailer or a ladder rack?
A rack or a way to carry a tall ladder safely, yes. A trailer is not required. What matters is that the ladder you can actually get to a job site is tall enough for the exterior walls out here, because that is what limits which tickets we can send you.

Have you wired a detached shop before?

Tell us what you have run outdoors and how far west you will drive. That is enough to start.
